I was wondering how many of you have snoring husbands at home making it soooo hard for you to fall asleep.
Mine starts snoring the minute he closes his eyes and he is even wearing one of those breath-easy tapes on his nose. Of course he doesn't believe me when I tell him I couldn't sleep and I already think of taping it to make him listen. However,... it doesn't change a thing.

How are you handling this without moving to the sleepingcouch.
Looking forward hearing from you all.

so what happened then ?
How did you solve it?

When I went in for my sleep study, the test administrator soon woke me up to put the mask on me. He let me know I was snoring VERY loudly. :-) He also told me that my oxygen saturation level was 60%. That's even lower (75%) than your blood right before it goes back through to be recycled/resaturated. KWIM?

It's no wonder I had a constant headache, grumpy, forgetfulness, suddenly dozing off, etc. I really hope you can convince him.

Personally, we both snore. I try to get to sleep before him. But, every morning around 4AM he gets ups to take a trip to the bathroom returns to sleep like a baby and sounds like a train and then his snoring wakes me up. So with that said I'm a early riser. I'm normally in bed by 8PM to make sure I get plenty of sleep to account for him waking me up before the crack of dawn.

As others have already suggested, he probably has sleep apnea. My husband was a horrific snorer-- you could hear him throughout the house. Like yours, he refused to believe that he snored. I spent many a night in our guest room, so I could actually get some sleep. Finally, I tape recorded him snoring, played it for him, gave him the phone number of a sleep clinic in our area, and demanded he do something about it. He did, and discovered he has sleep apnea. He sleeps with a breathing machine now (CPAP)-- and guess what? He gets a much better sleep, is more rested in the morning, and no longer snores a bit. The CPAP isn't the most romance-inducing attractive thing around and make a small bit of whooshing noise, but its noise doesn't bother me at all, and it's well worth the lack of snoring. I love (as does he!) that I'm no longer seething mad at him at night! Good luck to you...

My sister tried EVERYTHING and her husband got surgery. Lasted for a while but then went back to snoring. Only thing that works for him was http://www.puresleep.com/
He saw it on an infomercial and thought, well I've tried everything else!

this is very interesting but I am convinced he wouldn't wear this at night. Vain even in his sleep LOL

Even if it would truly help him sleep better? My hubby swears by his now. He has to travel often and takes it with him even though he wouldn't disturb anyone snoring. It truly helps him get a better nights sleep and feel better in the morning!

My husband is a horrible. I sent him to sleep clinic to make sure he did not have sleep apnea and they confirmed that he didn't. He sleeps with two pillows under his head and that helps a little. If he ends up on his back I am woken up to the range of snoring that could only be described as unpleasant and unnatural. I end up gently nudging him, or smacking him in the chest, to get him to roll over.

I still think he needs to go back to the sleep clinic and get tested again.

wow...yep, mine does too!

We actually had him tested for sleep apnea-which he has. I was constantly having to "nudge him alive"- (what I'd call it when he stopped breathing and I would have to tap or shake him).
He now wears a cpap machine. Not a great solution either, but at least we can get a bit of sleep.

I definitely need to get DH to try this! He did actually go in for a sleep study and was sent home with a "prescription" of ear plugs - FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGH!!! I don't think so! My ears are sensitive, so there's no way I could do that. They get sore even just after sleeping on my side, so no ear plugs for me. The dr. said he has "mild to moderate" snoring. I think the dr. should have to try sleeping with him! We sometimes sleep apart if I want to get a good night's rest. I sent him the link to the Pure Sleep, so maybe he'll try that out. The nose strips did nothing for him. The dr. did tell him that his uvula (sp?) is a bit long, so is likely the culprit, so maybe the Pure Sleep thing will help. I HOPE!!!!!!!

This is the most difficult part of our marriage! I get very resentful about it. We usually take turns sleeping in the guest room - not ideal! Mine does not snore as much when he is at a healthy weight. I'm trying to encourage that in a loving way!

Let us know if that works - I was thinking about trying it too!
