So how did you pick the names for your children?

In our family we use a Biblical name for the first name and a family name for the middle name.

So how did you go about naming your children?

We just liked/could agree on the first names (Michael and Sean). For middle names, we used the middle names of each grandfather.

Our daughter's first name comes from my grandmother and his great grandmother. Her middle name came from her dad being named Michael, so her middle name is Michelle. It was just an extra plus that Michelle is her God Mothers middle name.

For me it all started when I was young...I always wanted to be a mommy so I would look through my mom's baby name books and come up with names, back then it was Blaze for a boy and Kalypso for a girl (even I laugh at that). As I got older and wiser, I realized I wanted names that we different but not weird. So for a son I came up with Parker and then James as his middle name...James we chose because it was my husband's late borther's middle name! The girl name we had picked out was Audrey Nicole, Audrey for Ms. Hepburn and Nicole was my late friend's middle name (she was killed in a car accident).

My kids are Trinity Grace, Faith Gabriela, Aubrianna Isabella.......... It took the whole 9 months to pick them and I love their names.

We already both liked the name Sean. It's the Irish form of John and means "God's gracious gift" or "Given by God." For the middle name we chose Kenneth, my husband's first name. We're very pleased, and most of all, so is Sean!

As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my first child I knew it was a boy. lol. So, I had the name Tyler Windham picked out. Tyler is my husbands middle name and Windham is my grandfather's last name. Then when it got closer to the end of my pregnancy, I saw an old friend at the movie store and she had named her baby Kalilah. And I loved it. I told my husband if he turns out to be a she that's what we will name her.

Then when I found out I was pregnant with my second child, a girl, my husband said that I had said the name Kalilah so much that he felt we already had a child by that name so we stuck with that. I had originally said the middle name would be Delaney, but that was the last name of an old boyfriend so I didn't want to tag that to my child! lol SO... I finally convinced my husband at the last minute to let me name her Kalilah Elise instead. BTW, It is pronounced Ka-lil-ah. We now call her Kali for short.

For my third child, a girl, I had learned my lesson and didn't want to even speak a name until I knew for sure that's what I wanted. lol. So we picked a few that we liked. And then waited until we met our baby to name her. We had originally liked Nevaeh which is heaven backwards and call her Navi for short. But my family flipped out and thought it was too weird. My daughter was more active than my other babies during pregnancy so I wanted to name her something that had to do with movement but that wasn't negative. I called her rowdy while I was pregnant. lol. So We ended up naming her Cadence Mckenna. Cadence is a movement in music or like a drum cadence. We call her Cadee for short.

I also knew my wee guy was going to be a boy as soon as I was pregnant. I think it is cause I never had a brother (and my parents never a boy) so I think I just wanted it. We went with Preston as his first name (my dad's middle name) Williams as his middle name (all the men on my husbands side have that middle name). Hoping for a girl next time around and not sure what method we will use.

my son's name is 'Troy' after Dr Christian Troy on Nip/Tuck! and his second name is Riley. My first two names make up the initials 'TR' as does my fathers'. So it's a bit like a family tradition for first borns!

Cadence Mckenna is one of my friend's daughters name. I have always loved the named Cadence.

My eldest son, Zion, was picked due to both Biblical reasons and the Lauryn Hill son, "Zion". I only had 1 boy name and a million girl names. My runner up was Kai or Justus [as in Justice and Just Us].

My 2nd son, Sevyn, is also a Biblical name. 7 is the sign of completion, or God's stamp of approval. It also has a ton of numerology and greek meanings. It is a powerful number all the way around!

My name came from the credits from an "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" in 1966. My husband & I continued that tradition and love to sit & look for unusual names in the credits after a movie.

I was watching a biography of Art Alexakis and was really impressed by him, and what he did with a life after a beginning didn't offer him the best start. That inspired my son's first name of Alexander, and his middle name "Charles" was for a family friend who had passed away.

Interestingly, after he was born, he was quite clearly a "Charlie" and not an "Alex" so that is what he goes by.
