It's the second day of fall and the flu is already on every parent's mind. Should your kids get a flu shot? Or do they need to get a swine flu shot (aka H1N1)? Do they get one shot? Or four shots? Lord have mercy, can this get anymore confusing? Maybe we should all just lock ourselves in our houses and emerge in the spring. Sounds like a plan, but not a very practical one.
I honestly do NOT believe that the Swine Flu is a govt conspiracy to sell pharmaceuticals. I believe putting that idea out there is extremely irresponsible. There was a major epidemic in Mexico and people did die. On the other hand, I don't believe in freaking out either and scaring parents. As parents, we need to be informed, keep a level head and make the right decisions based on the information we gather for our families.
There has been a lot of useful information shared in this discussion, wash your hands, make sure your kids wash their hand especially when coming home from school. Keep your immune system healthy by eating right.
I know there has been an outbreak of swine flu at my daughter's high school. I have a friend who lives in Georgia who's daughter had the swine flu. After her daughter had I looked up online and I realized it is serious but it's not as bad the media makes it seem. My friends daughter has recovered and she is fine.
I have read everyone's posts with great interest. I, too, am on the fence with this shot. I have two children who have asthma and one who has had pneumonia three times, so she would be an ideal candidate. However, I am concerned about the fast-tracking of this shot, and she's coming off getting a bunch of boosters just a few months ago, and i think I should have spaced those out, too. I'm including a resource that you can check out in case you suspect you or your child has the swine flu. It's called the h1n1 swine flu response center. https://h1n1.cloudapp.net/Default.aspx It has a lot of information about the swine flu, some basics about flu prevention and recommendations for people with health conditions. This is going to be a rough winter, and I think we're all going to be a bit nervous. Hopefully this information can help.
How cool is it that through this medium we can get advice from Mums in Brazil!! The world is shrinking, wow. I personally, don't like the Flu shot, my husband always wants to get the shots for us all. Even though I have a pain disability, I don't have an immunity issue nor does anyone in my family. Therefore, not too worried about it. If I had someone in my immediate family or friend circle with an immunity issue, I would probably get the shot, but really, I am not too concerned about it. My husband will probably take them in for a shot.
I found a great resource for information on flu vaccinations and the H1N1 vaccine at www.medtipster.com It's a new search engine that you can do online to find where to get vaccinated and you can talk to their pharmacist if you have questions.
you can also search for discount generic alternatives just by typing in your prescription's name, dosage, and your zip code. Generic prescriptions are exact copies of their name brand counterparts and are as little as $4!
I am worried but not in a panic. It was wonderful to read all the replies here that are full of great resources. I have two boys, five & eight and there have been confirmed cases in our school. I think the most important thing is to be informed and watch your children closely.
"Swine" flu is actually the incorrect name. H1N1 is the nomenclature of this latest strain of the flu virus. What I find interesting is that the flu kills something like 20,000 people each year - always has, and yet no one really cared too much.
Well, I think I may have h1n1 right now, but it's been pretty mild. I don't know if it's because some of the additional things I've been taking to boost my immune system, but it's been milder than last year when my whole family had the seasonal flu. Obviously milder because I wouldn't be out of bed on the computer - LOL
My newphew just had it last week and it lasted 4 days - he did spike a 104+ fever at one point. It sounds like a lot of my kids classmates are absent right now too. It's everywhere.
We had 2 teachers at our school with h1n1 a few weeks ago and they said they were flat on their backs for 5 days - said it was horrible.
My symptoms started with cold symptoms, nasal congestion, cough (which I've had off and on for well over a month), and then fever and chills came on in the evening on Tues night. I had fever/chills most of the day yesterday and was in bed all day. This morning I slept until 11am, but I think I have a low fever right now. I have not had the body aches or sore throat, which is what most people I have spoke with had.
I've read to many details about h1n1 vaccine and have decided not to have my family vaccinated for seasonal or h1n1. But each family has to make their own decisions.
2 things I think that have really helped is Oscillococcinum® by Boiron and Elderberry Syrup. I also recently started taking more vitamins including probiotics, a multivitamin and D3.
The interview even says that the CDC's own site says something DIFFERENT than what the news media is stating about statistics.
The CDC's own web site readily admits that since August 30, 2009 they are no longer testing for H1N1.
Many Doctors are not even testing to see if people have the H1N1 or just influenza or flu like symptoms. So where is the media & the President getting their numbers?
Why was the H1N1 Emergency only announced to the public this weekend? This may have been in effect for 3 weeks but, no one was told.
Pharma has ordered the vaccine but, many people are not going to get it so, they needed to announce H1N1 as a Emergency so the drug makers can sell their stuff??????
Very interesting how this is coming around.
I know that many people are not happy about the "Emergency" call by Obama. It could cost American's their rights!
I would never touch that vaccine. This article may help you to understand why.
Aside from that, the key is to build up the immune system. In a country where sickness is a for profit business, I would not be so quick to trust in the medical community, because they are the ones making everyone sick. If we are not sick, they don't make any money. This is why wellness is the next big trend in industry.
When you have a medical industry that has been exposed to a natural means of raising the levels of the immune system 437% so that the body is able to properly operate its first line of defense, and they refuse to notify the public at large, that speaks volumes about their trustworthiness for anyone's health.
This information was originally discovered in 1949, by a very famous immunologist, Dr. Sherwood Lawrence. This same natural immune system booster has been listed in the PDR (physician's desk reference) that every doctor has, since 2002, yet they will never tell you about it. It is the best treatment for disease and it's hidden from the public right out in the open.
It's been a major factor in people being healed from diseases like cancer, shingles, diabetes, high blood pressure, and many other common diseases. However, since this important information is not allowed to be advertised, you will have to contact me directly if you want more info on it. Inquiringminds_64@hotmail.com. Peace and blessings.
