The Perfect Mommy "Time-Out"!

  • Rating: 5 after 4 votes
I just got back from Napa -- had a college friend, maid of honor, BFF...visit me from Philadelphia. Drove up to Napa yesterday, lunched at Auberge de Soleil, followed by major shopping spree at the boutiques in St. Helena. Landed at the Villagio in Yountville about 6, p.m., played tennis and had a fabulous dinner at the hot, new restaurant Bottega! Love, love, love!!! This morning -- champagne brunch and girl-talk for 2 hours, followed by a massage, sauna, steam and jacuzzi in the spa, with afternoon tea, then a quick trip back to St. Helena to pick up a few more must have shoes, etc.. The perfect mommy time-out! What is yours?

Going to a grown up movie without any kids. I love going to the movies that are rated R. No kids. I buy giant candy at the Dollar Tree next door to the cineplex and smuggle it in there in my purse (I refuse to pay $8 for Sweet Tarts regardless of the occasion), buy a HUGE popcorn and GIANT soda and sit back and enjoy an uninterrupted 2+hours of pure air conditioned bliss.

One of my girlfriends just had a Ladies Luncheon! Perfect weather, we lay out by the pool, ate light food, caught up on current events, family, fashion, you name it! Shared emotional space, and truly just had an AWESOME time!
Another girlfriend, sewed totes for everyone, fabulous little tote bags each with an individual flair. (mine made suited just 4 me)! Each tote carried, magazine, snack, chewing gum, water gun (fun), and a tumbler, just for your "drink"! It was so relaxing, while our kids played at school ALL DAY LONG! My best Time-Out.

Oh, yes! -- Love it! I must confess, i have not see a "grow-up" movie in quiet some time. I did, however, see the movie UP with my boys. A movie out with my husband, getting a sitter, can cost $$$$ - unless we can find an another family to take the kids.

OMG! How crafty and fun! How did your girlfriend find the time to sew them, AND put personalized goodies in them? Sound like a perfect "Mommy Time-out! We must do more of these!

Your's sounds WONDERFUL!!

My perfect day is going to a movie, then browsing a book store for a few celeb rags and a new best seller. On the way home a stop at Starbucks.

I love that too! I could spend hours in a book store! One downside to all this social networking, is that it takes time away from reading. A good book "Takes You Away!

I hope you read while you are locked in your room and dad watches the kids! Just some quiet can do the trick, too.//

What would we do without girlfriends? Girlfriend "therapy" is the best.

Any time away is the perfect time out! But most especially when I finally get time with my girlfriends!

yeah the eky to it is a childcare swap otherwise it isnt really worth it. My mom came and did it because it was my birthday and she can get the baby to take pumped milk. otherwise I would have had to wait for Netflix. Sad but true. It made it feel even better though!

being away from my kids is what I can get , but I find if I look in a bookstore..I'm okay for a while or if I spend money on me.

I hosted a Ladies Night Out at my house. The guys took the kids out for the night. My girlfriends and sisters and I got to sip wine, eat chocolate and talk free of interruptions for a few hours. I was able to catch up with my gal pals and be a girl for a night ( I have three boys and my house flows testosterone daily!) Sometimes just a few hours can make a big difference!
