What Are Your Plans for 4th of July?

  • Rating: 5 after 2 votes
Well, this year the Calhoun family will be celebrating the fourth with a parade and picnic in our little town of Ross. It's so freakin cute! The kids decorate their bikes, trikes, wagons, strollers and themselves and parade down main street (all 3 blocks of it). Then we gather in the Ross Commons for a town picnic - there is face painting and games for the kids - it's too cute!

What are your plans this year?

We always grill out and do personal fireworks - less traffic and more interactive for the kids!

I am so excited... My hubby and I will fly into Seattle Friday night to spend the 4th with our daughter, son-in-law and 10month old grandson in Silverdale. Its tough being a long distance grandma. We will take a train down to Portland for an Elk convention on Sunday. As soon as the convention is over we will go back to daughters for a couple more days of maw-maw time then back to Missouri.I think it will be special spending Independence Day on a military base. Please remember Freedom is not free! Happy Independence Day everyone.

We'll be once again enjoying the pancake breakfast at the fire station, then having a picnic on the deck using these 4th of July Placemats I whipped up. Then I know we'll see head over to the fireworks extravaganza.

We are going over to my 83 y/o grandpas for BBQ and celebrating my oldest sons 8th birthday(his b-day is on the 7th). Then we are going camping at the lake to watch the fire works. My boys don't know they are going camping. It's a surprise.

We're having a couple of "family dates" - where all us parents are good friends and where the kids are friends and similar ages...expect really our 9 month old - and he just loves people in general - so he will love all the new people to giggle with. :-)

We're knocking out a wall in the bedroom to add a patio door - and going to a family BBQ. Big Weekend!

We are heading to my in-laws to celebrate the 4th with our family. They have horses (which my daughter is a NUT about), so it will be a good time.

It has been a tradition the past several years to trek to Williamsburg, do the Parks (Busch and Waterpark) and walk through Colonial Williamsburg. The boys are going to watch the fireworks outside and my daughter (does not like loud noises) and I will be watching the fireworks from the comfort of the Lodge.

4th of July is when I feel really lucky to live in the neighborhood I live in. We start by swimming and hanging out at the neighborhood pool and then the neighbor kids have a parade with decorated bikes, trikes, wagons, etc. Then we go to a neighbors house for a party and set off fireworks. Most of the other neighbors have parties also, and we usually walk around and visit with everybody. It's a great evening!

The Douglass family is going to be home and lay low, as usual. We have a bulldog who hates fireworks and gets all worked up so it's BBQ and family time. Probably movies, popcorn and cuddles! Just like we like it!

If the fog will be kind we will also watch fireworks from our back deck. Last year I had a 2 week old preemie just a week after moving here so we just stayed at home and realized we could see both the San Francisco and Sausalito displays in clear view right over the water, it was beautiful and we didn't have to fight crowds and cold weather (as it is always cold here in the San Francisco north bay according to this New Orleanian native)
