I think gas prices will stay low.
I think Obama will stumble a bit when he gets in office and then right the ship and take off.
I think it'll be a little bit like after 9/11 when people really focused on family, quality time and loved ones over bigger houses, fancy vacations and another pair of Manolos.
I think my website will really take off and help people!

Economy will come back but VERY slowly. Expect a lot more stores closing during the coming year. A lot more jobs will be lost. Obama won't have the "quick" cure everyone thinks he will. He'll struggle and hopefully find a way to turn us all around. I don't look for a quick fix though.
Well according to all the gossip rags they're going to get married - if she signs the prenup. LOL And, of course, have more kids! Geesh.
Nominations for AA's aren't out yet so hard to predict. Back on that one later.

brad and angelina will move to france and stay there because no one cares what they do anymore.

other predictions:
obama will send out another "stimulus" check
the middle east will continue to be unstable, affecting the rest of the world
gas prices will stay below $2 for part of the year
i will hopefully get a new job! and lose 20 lbs

I predict that the economy will come back a lot faster than anyone thinks.
President Obama will turn out to be less of a liberal than expected, disappointing some but delighting others. He'll be a classy guy with the critics as well.
People in the U.S. will be much more interested in smaller, individual and family owned businesses. More likely to buy from them, and that will include big ticket items as well. I feel very strongly about that as the confidence in big businesses is going down.
I'll be publishing the first of many books, and filming the first of many DVDs. Very exciting year I think.

I agree with Nancy - I think the trend will be for smaller and more environmentally (by which I also mean, more family and more culturally aware) businesses, more local providers, more seasonal products. In the UK at least, I think we will see people moving away from the big retailers who have held such a stranglehold. We're already seeing this, with a shift from out of town shopping, US style, to a more small business and local provider-based market.

It might just be the saving of our town centres, which have been increasingly undercut and by-passed by the out of town mega malls inspired by the States (sorry, but you guys have certainly spread your culture quite relentlessly and not always to the better of the general public in other countries).

I think there will also be a even sharper tug between tolerance and non-tolerance (heck it's already kicking off again in between Israel and Palestine). I also think that the death of the Material and Financial Gods that many have worshipped for years, certainly since Thatcher was in power here, will leave a spiritual hole in the heart of many people. This in turn will lead to a turning inwards and a reassess of what they believe in and where they look. I don't see a resurgence in the belief in God - the churches are not reporting an upswing in the general decline in attendance here - but more an awareness of what we are doing as human beings and our place in the planet and universe. Expect companies to have to be green and ethical or go to the wall!

I have already seen a huge increase in the interest in home-based and mum businesses on Funky Angel (http://www.funkyangel.co.uk), and primarily from our core market here in the UK, where we have traditionally lagged behind the States with our WAHM awareness and support. I have already had interest in advertising and sponsorship from some of our leading brands, inc Vodafone, who is based in the same town as Funky, and have three books lined up for publication...oh, I am so looking forward to 2009!!!

Here are my thoughts for 2009:
I think Brad & Angelina are going to hit a rough patch in their lives. They are great parents and very involved humantarians but they need to rest or else see a lot of Star headlines saying they will be breaking up.

As for the economy, I personally feel it will pick up. I think people are finally ready for a change and see what Obama will bring to stimulate the economy. We have to literally grow strong as a country and it will happen.

I think Miss Tina Fey will finally get her due diligence and have additional doors open up for her.

The economy is going to still be a tough one, there is another round of "bad" mortgages to go south and consumer debt will become the next big crisis.
Comfort food will become the big food trend, people will be looking for food that is soothing and more will be cooking from home to save money.
People will start to focus on handmade, buying handmade and use their talents and crafts to create items much more economically than buying them in a big box store as well as look to the sales of those items as an income stream.
People are going to begin to truly focus on the smaller joys in life.
Travel will shift to day trips, road trips and focus on families being together.
We will conserve more gas, electricity, water and other utilities in a need to save money, and with a focus on living a greener lifestyle. The Obama administration will work to develop alternative energies and will create green jobs.
I will publish my first series of ebooks, and become a contributor with Twitter Moms (hint, hint!)!

I predict rough times around Israel coming very soon, which, I believe, will rock things here in America as well. I predict (and hope) Americans will batten down the hatches and not be so extravagant this year and instead reach out a helping hand to one another like never before.
