On a recent trip from Asheville to Florida, I downloaded many books on my iPod. I listened to "The Alchemist", which was wonderful. Currently, I have about 100 more books to listen to; one I started is called "Blink". It is about how we have learned NOT to trust our instincts and that if we did, we would make most of our decisions within a 2 second period; in a blink. It has made me start to listen to myself more quickly and trust myself.
As well, I am reading two books about Birthmothers-
"The Girls Who Went Away" and "Relinquished" both about birthmothers who were often forced to give up their children from adoption. Each of these women reach into my heart and pull it; as an adoptive mom, I am compelled to honor all of them daily for changing the world.
My part in adopting was much easier by comparison to their surrendering part of themselves. I am honored to be a mother.
