Are you upping your Twitter intake, and cutting back on Myspace? Fattening up on Facebook? Share your 2009 social media diet with your fellow twitter moms!
I have pretty much dropped MySpace, I stop by Twitter and Facebook pretty regularly and am continually addicted to Flickr. I also spend more time blogging myself than ever before.
Add me to the Social Marketing Queen list. More, more and more that are more geared towards my e-tailing business. The more exposure you have that you can handle the better. People need to know you are out there on the net it is getting bigger and bigger every minute, hour, day etc. Especially now that people are searching for creative alternatives to bringing in income into the household with the economy they way it is, we need to to something to be a "purple cow" and that by all means being more exposed, okay excuse the pun! LOL!
MySpace and Orkut are still there, but I don't pay much if any attention at all to either. LinkedIn I check in on now and then, but for now I don't get too into it. FaceBook, TwitterMoms, and CafeMom are the three I do visit most days. I also use Twitter and I blog. The blog is one of the things I am trying to increase this year as it is there to help me get my stuff together for my Master's project. I am also trying not to fall too far behind on the different blogs and other feeds I like to read, but that is a difficult one.
This is such a great question because I think I NEED to go on an SM diet and limit the sites I've a) joined and b) check into. Some sites I've hardly had a chance to visit! My top 3 are Facebook, Twitter, and Twittermoms, plus all the other blogs I like to read and try and leave comments. I've recently joined Type-A Moms and really like the articles there.
As for all the other ones I joined (seriously - too many to list here), I need to work on figuring out which ones I have time for and which ones to drop...for now. I'd rather be active in fewer communities and do it well, than so spread out.
I'm increasing twitter, I like how I can link my thoughts with facebook (killing two birds with one stone). I enjoy betternetworker and I've come to realize that linkedin is very valuable for research and to be researched...that's another story. Because of twittermom I'm going to cut back on cafemom, don't get much value from there.
My plan is to really work at being more social on Twitter and FriendFeed, and finally figure out how to be social on FaceBook and LinkedIn. Those last two I really suck at, I'm never quite sure what I'm supposed to be doing. LOL
It is getting crazy-Twittermoms is the latest for me. Haven't done anything on Twitter. Myspace drives me nuts with all the sites having too much flash and glitter and everything else. The pages take to long to load and it's hard to read. Facebook is boring to me, but I am there at times. Then there is linkedin and iLike. Then there is the blogging.
I was never really a myspace or facebook person, even though I've been far more active on TMoms than the two of those combined. I would imagine that my diet might stay a little close to the same.
I have to find other avenues for networking and outreach. I need activities that are more inline with my goals.
