Thanksgiving is coming, and we're all planning our menus... I wanted to hear about what some of your favorite Thanksgiving Day dishes are. There are so many yummy ones!
My favorite dish is definitely the turkey. I cook it with onions, carrots and celery, breast down in a turkey bag. The turkey absorbs the flavors of the veggies and remains moist. It's delicious!
I am SOOOOO happy we are talking THANKSGIVING. I love this holiday. Cooking for weeks in advance, our girls even cook. We photograph, I shld even put all this fun on MOMTV hmm. Another idea...
Monique we do our turkey in Vermont maple syrup as well. Delia, church cookbooks are usually full of great recipes. Thx for the souffle. Haven't planned the menu yet, but will prepare as I read all your great recipes. Sure to add jalapeno corn bread, apple pie (Alton Brown's recipe) and something from Fine Cooking magazine. Thank you! Yum.
My mom makes this dish we've always called "Black Bart's Gangling Guts" (God only knows where the name came from). It's our family's version of mashed potatoes, but with a twist. It includes 1 lb of bacon, 1 lb of butter, 1 lb of swiss cheese, 1 lb of provolone and 1 lb of sour cream. My friends call ahead every year to ask my mom to make them an extra pan of it to take home!! It's wicked good. If you want the recipe, let me know!
Being Japanese, out Thanksgiving is always a mix of foods, so my favorite dish is actually Inari, a sweet rice wrapper around some rice. Yum!! Makes me think of so many Thanksgivings past, growing up, my family, and all the years of experience I have gained.
