What Was Your Favorite Moment of 2008

  • Rating: 5 after 3 votes
I LOVE reading and watching "year in review" specials, so I was thinking it'd be nice to here from some Twittermoms what THEIR favorite moment of 2008 was! I had so many, it is quite hard to put it down to just a few. One moment was during the summer when I very nervously sent my son and daughter on a plane (by themselves!) to visit their grandparents! As we're waiting in the terminal, my daughter (the older one by 3 years), put her arm around her brother, looked me straight in the eye and said "Don't worry mom, I'll take care of him"! yeah, I got just a tad misty eyed! They might fight like crazy, but when it comes down to it, they'll always take care of each other!

Do you have a favorite moment?

Joan, that teared me up a little just reading it! Thanks for sharing that with us!

The most favorite moment for me in 2008 was when 6 y/o granddaughter was in the local ballet production of Peter Pan. She was so excited, all dressed up in tutu costume. I don't think she ever could quite distinguish what was real and what was "pretend". After the performance, she loved greeting all of the characters, and I am sure in her mind she was meeting the real Peter Pan and Wendy. When we walked outside leave, she looked up in the night sky, and with great wistfulness said "Second star on the right and straight ahead till morning!" (if you don't know, that's a line from the movie) I was so teary-eyed, I had to stop walking.

Beautiful, Heather, I can just imagine the pride!

I haven't had the chance to read all the responses yet, but I have to say that my most memorable moment was when my son came home from the Job Corps for Christmas and presented me with his GED certificate. It was something I had come to believe was not going to happen, and I was so moved his achievement, and the pride he took in giving it to me. Hands-down, the most memorable moment of my life as a parent.

Oh my! Only one thing is hard. I'd have to say our family vacation. It was the first time we took our 3 DDs to Disneyland. At ages 5, 3 and 1.5, it was magical to say the least. They loved every minute and I loved being able to watch the look on their faces as we saw the many "magical" things there. I've never enjoyed a trip to Disneyland so much as the one we took.
