When Do You Put Your Holiday Decorations Up?

I know it's early to ask this question but every store I go into already has decorations up. I don't remember seeing that before Thanksgiving but I am not surprised! We wait until the first weekend in December to put ours up, just curious to hear what you all do??

I saw Christmas decorations before Halloween last year and this year.
I generally try to put up my Christmas decorations the first weekend of December, too. Depends on when I can convince my husband to haul out the tree.

Growing up we always decorated the first or second week of December. But ever since my husband and I had our first place together we have spent every Thanksgiving weekend decorating for Christmas. Now it's what our kids associate with Thanksgiving, and part of our own family tradition. We sat once the Macys parade is over, it's fair game! :)

We decorate the house the first weekend of December and put the Christmas tree up a week before Christmas.

Last year I had a new tree and was so excited I put it up the weekend before Thanksgiving. I think I'll stay with that schedule! I love to sit at night with all the lights off and only the tree lit up. It's so comforting.

Me too Scrappy mama! The glow of the tree is just beautiful at night. We sit and look at it with our family too, my boys love it!

We put our decorations up on Thanksgiving day. While Mom cooks the dinner my sis and I assemble the tree (artificial) and set up the lights and stuff then we go to our respective homes and decorate our own trees and the outside of the house over the weekend. So for us, Xmas begins on Thanksgiving Day!! Then b/c we are Latin we leave the decorations up 'till January 6TH which is the day we celebrate the Three Kings Day :-)

That is so nice Mary! You have an extra long time to enjoy your decorations too!

Well in Canada our Thanksgiving is over so Christmas decs go up right after Halloween. I don't personally start decorating until after December 4th (my oldest's birthday!), but birthday or not I wouldn't decorate until at least early December, and often we wait until mid-December to do it. Otherwise we get tired of the Christmas look!

Our family actually starts all through the month of November so we can start celebrating and enjoying the holiday on the first Sunday of Advent. Some decorating is done the week after Thanksgiving but that is just tweaking and odds and ends. BUT I do run a site about getting ready for Christmas so I am not your normal average Christmas person :)

Well because our thanksgiving (in Canada) is in the middle of October, I think most people wait until After American Thanksgiving. Although i am considering doing things early this year because i'm home on Mat leave. I just love christmas decorations... Mind you our christmas lights have been on since November 1st.
