When Hubby Goes Away

  • Rating: 4.5 after 3 votes
I like it when my husband goes away on business trips. I forget about cooking real dinners, let this dishes pile up in the sink and watch HGTV in bed. How about you?

the good thing about hubby going on business trips is twittering and surfing all night without having to explain why I am glued to the laptop and going to bed REAL late and watching as the world turns without disturbance because my husband hates it LOL.

I would be "More" than "Happy" to share here! In the beginning of our marriage, wasn't to keen of him leaving for a week or so hunting, don't ask me why? Now, I say "have at it", "Go honey, Go Hunting"! I thoroughly "ENJOY" time away, I can watch the TV on a channel I like, stay up late, cook or not cook for that matter. Please, don't get me wrong here, I "LOVE" my husband it's just a different energy around here, when you can just let things go, don't have to call and coordinate outings, dinner time, etc..... You can just go and do whatever. Now he's moved on to "Poker" on friday nights, which is fine by me, I can plan some "Girl's Nights" with friends have some wine and catch up. Girl's need of those these day's? I find so many mom's (especially my daycare mommies) who want to get out of the daily grind work, home, bed, work, home, bed, kids, etc....I'm sure there are some "Fabulous" hubbies who are their wives best friends and you can't be with out each other, but the one's who read this and understand "Know" what I mean? Happy Hunting!!!

If I didn't have such a hard time sleeping his hunting trips wouldn't be so bad. I usually do some very naughty shopping, you know...due to lack of sleep:-) I bought a China cabinet one time and bought a keyboard another time....Chinese take-out and Bravo heaven...

I wouldn't like if my hubby was out of town. My business is the main source of income around here. He works a full time job for medical insurance. However, he picks up the slack with the house because I do spend a lot of time working and building my team He never questions why I am still up at 1am, why dinner isn't complete or why I didn't put the clothes away. I love that man!

My husband is a great guy, too. But I still like it when he goes away. He could be a cross between Colin Farrell and superman...I'd still welcome a few days apart now and then. That's not to say I don't shave my legs before he comes back!

Unfortunately for me, I have kids so when my husband goes away I am left to take care of the kids by myself. But before the kids, I would go visit my friends and hang out with my sisters in L.A. Nowadays I dread him leaving because the kids act out more when he is gone. This is something that I am working on.

We eat a little simpler...break out the chicken nuggets! Take late afternoon adventures or hang out at with friends at the park until late. Do some extra cuddling in the bed in the morning. Get caught up on some chick flicks. It is a different rhythm. A little less stressful since I don't have to work so hard to accomodate a extra persons needs. I can make unilateral decisions...which can be nice.

We are always happy to have him home though!

Make sure to get the kids to bed early and do something special for yourself. I get a special soda to enjoy after everyone is asleep!

We were talking about this on our show today. Guess all the hubbies are back to work now that the holidays are over... We were also discussing the difference between being married to a traveling husband versus being a single mom, benefits and drawbacks to both, how to cope, etc. Hope you can take a listen: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/theclassycloset/2009/01/19/Single-Pare...
