twitter moms: the influential moms network

Who's Going to CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Vegas in January 2010?

  • Rating: No Rating
For those of you who love the gadgets, the biggest consumer electronics show is coming in January. I'm booked to go and I would love to meet up with other bloggers. The show runs from January 7th - 10th and will be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

New this year, are two exhibits which are particularly appealing to moms: MommyTech and Kids@Play which will focus on technologies geared towards moms and children. I just found out last night that Beth Blecherman, founder of Techmamas.com, will be giving a presentation in the MommyTech arena. So we can all meet together to learn a few things and show her our support.

I went last year and it was great. And Robin did a fantastic job with Kids@Play. So hope to see you there.

I'm going too - first time as a mommy blogger as I had been doing tech public relations since the early 80s and have represented many a client here in the past. Should be an interesting new perspective, now that I'm on the media side (all while juggling triplets + 1 more born w/in a year). Look forward to meeting you all and following this discussion up till CES.

Great, I knew there are more techy moms out there! What is your "gameplan" for the show?

I'm planning on going too.

I'd also like to know the "gameplan," as this will be my first convention of any type as a Mommy Blogger. What's everyone doing about getting sponsors for this? Also, my kids are tweens/teens, can I bring them?

hi there
I am hoping to go but I plan on bringing a photog (read DH but the real deal).. but it's iffy on the photog part.
also they aren't big on kids.. you would have to get them credentialed. I know it's a tough convention to work. I would LOVE to know about getting sponsors but that would be because you have street cred with a brand out there already. I am working on Nintendo but they are already good to me so I don't figure they are going to spring for me to show up

I know that you can obtain a Press Pass if you can show that you receive more than 500 hits a month. This will be my first time going as a blogger. Stevie, since it sounds like you've gone before, what are some of your tips? Will you be setting up interviews? Will you be trying to meet with PR and marketing reps? How about you, Shelly?

I've just been asked to speak on a panel at Mommy Tech. Anyone else speaking?

It's my first time at CES, but not my first time at a trade show. I'll probably make appointments with some of my contacts, but I plan to spend most of my time wandering around, figuring out what's new and making new contacts. I wouldn't book too many things unless you have a specific goal in mind. I think the whole thing can be overwhelming and you don't want to find yourself running all over the place making appointments and missing out on some of the things that crop up organically.

This is a trade show, so it's not really appropriate to bring kids or any other guest who isn't there in a professional role.

Christy,

That's great you'll be speaking. What will your topic be about? As soon as you find out the day and time, let us know so we can all come to see you -- and meet each other.
