twitter moms: the influential moms network

Why do you tweet on Twitter?

  • Rating: 4.8 after 5 votes
Today as I browsed through all the Twitter posts, I came across @chrisbrogan discussing why tweeps use Twitter. Is it just to drive traffic to your blog/website, is it all about how many tweeps are following you, is it to connect with other like-minded individuals or something completely different?

I'm new to twitter, but what drew me to it was the buzz I kept hearing about how it was a great way to get the news out about your blog &/or website while making friends. What a great combination! The people I'm trying to connect with might not be interested in my product, but they are familiar with the struggle of trying to make our life work while meshing all the different components. It motivates me for quick breaks to see what's going on in other people's lives. Through facebook & it's updates, I've gotten to know people I casually knew better & I hope this will allow me to do the same. Besides how can it NOT motivate you to get off your butt & get something done, when you see what everybody else is getting accomplished?

I Tweet to make connections and to learn more about the field I am trying to pursue (travel writing) and to connect with others who are working in similar areas. That said, I also Tweet because its fun. It's a great way to share those random thoughts that come up throughout the day and establish connection in the solitude of being a SAHM.

I don't think that Tweeting has brought much traffic to my website, but it has opened up a number of advertising opportunities for my book and ironically increases my SEO. It has also been a fast way to communicate.

You know, I don't remember why I started using twitter. I think it might have been a case of "well everyone else is doing it" mixed with "you know, you can promote your blog on Twitter!"

Sadly though, I don't think I've really got the hang of it...

I use twitter to talk to our clients and other photographers, my wife and I own a boutique photography studio. It adds some personality to the blog. My Twitter posts say HE SAID and my wife (the primary photographer) says SHE SAID. Our clients like to read what we are doing. They will often mention things I have said to me when they come in to the studio. They feel like the know me with out having ever met me. It is also tied to facebook and is my status updates. So that can sometimes generate a lot of comments there as well. Just have to remember to be mindful of the things you choose to say. Need to be a balance of professional standards and personal observations. Usually quite geeky.

Because it is fun! It is a way to connect with people without leaving the comfort of your home. You can share your thoughts and interests and find out, hey, other people care about this stuff, too! I like reading people's blogs but sometimes a little blurb is nice, too! :)

I started out using it as a way to keep my sweetheart abreast of things that were happening at home while he was at work and a method to assist me in being accountable for everything that I need to do throughout the day.... a running list of accomplishments if you will.

I like seeing things that are going on in other peoples lives but I have to admit that I can't stand it when people I am following are using the twitter for advertising their businesses/products so I tend to stop following someone when they start doing that.

For me it's just fun exchanging messages with nice people.
I have found some "staedy" friends on twitter and we look forward twittering at least once a day.

We are using it to connect with moms and introduce them to our website, blushmom.com, and are also using twittermoms.com to post our blush mom, Gail Johnsons, blog to get comments and feedback as we are brand new :)

How wonderful to be able to "tweet" to other women who share the desire to touch base...network..look for opportunity or simply share advice.

Stay well to all twitter moms...oh yes, of course...

I am a new tweeter on twitter - I love how that sounds! LOL! I came here because I heard it was a great networking site, being able to connect with old friends, make new friends, build relationships, get ideas to help market my growing business and promote my business with Gold Canyon. In the first 24 hours that I have been here, I have made some great friends already and hope to be able to meet more of you on here.

I am a very fun loving, creative minded individual and I love meeting new people and sharing my love for my friends, family and business on twitter! So I am sure I can tweet with you soon!

I started for business networking purposes, and found that through building relationships thru the personal kind of microblogging we do on Twitter, it has brought me some great clientele. Twitter can eat up a bunch of time so easily though, with such interesting tweets, so I still want to be there for biz and relationship reasons, but want to find some balance with social networking and my design work.

We do it because it is a fun and informational way to connect with parents.
