The first person that popped into my head who would fit this perfectly is Angela Shelton. If you've never heard of her, she is an amazing woman doing amazing things. She has a documentary out called Searching for Angela Shelton---she set on the road to make a documentary wanting to survey women in America; just see what they were doing, how women were doing around the country and found that over 70 or 80 percent of women she interviewed had been through trauma and abuse in their lives. While talking to these women she also reflected on her own childhood and the fact that she came from a childhood of incest and a broken home. Her documentary changed the lives of so many people who had also been through trauma and abuse in their lives and since then she has also published a memoir, Finding Angela Shelton.
She is such an outstanding, motivating, and inspiring woman. You can find her at http://AngelaShelton.com if you're interested.
