Just in time for the holiday eating season, someone asked me this question: Would you rather be skinny or rich? I thought I'd see what the moms here thought...
I used to be about 50 lbs heavier than I am now, and I KNOW how lonely that is.
I can imagine how lonely it is to be rich - never knowing whether your *friends* are real friends, or just friends as long as you have money.
It's not easy being a young, single overweight woman. It can't be easy being rich (I don't care what anyone says).
It seems to be a difficult choice. I think I will just keep my life as it is, currently!
Rich. I want to be able to provide for my family. I would be so happy if I could afford to send my boys to whatever college they wanted to attend. I could live with a few extra pounds if I had no worries about Stanford.
Skinny. I would be so miserable if I were fat and unhealthy and not able to run around with my kids, hike, and do the things I love but I could be skinny and poor and still be happy. I think the fact that the majority of people have voted for rich is an interesting commentary on that state of the world we live in today. People are so consumed with materialism and make money the priority over so many things are more important. We also have a culture that is rapidly becoming more and more obese. I am by no means skinny and I eat way more than I should but I want to be healthier. And after seeing so many morbidly obese family members and the health issues they struggle with, I don't think money is more valuable than health. And now I will find a good spot to hide from all the tomatoes that are being hurled at me from the peanut gallery...

That's a tough one. It sounds like we have to pick one or the other. I'm going to go with skinny and healthy with enough money to pay all the bills. But rich and being able to buy skinny would be great too.
I'll take rich. Then I could afford a personal trainer to help me become skinny and even more important, very physically in shape. And I could treat myself to regular trips to spas. And I could afford to buy whatever clothing, etc., I wanted to wear on my improving body. LOL. So by being rich, I'll truly get it all. And I'll try to stay nice so I don't lose all those who love me. Besides, if I'm rich I could sneakily help out friends and family in need without them knowing it is me.
Rich, definitely. Even if I couldn't "buy" my way into skinny, I'm happy enough with how I am - but could use more time, which money could definitely buy me!!
Rich! :-) Then I could afford to create more amazing things for kids.
Plus, if I am rich and super busy working on my business, I'll be
skinny because I will be too busy to eat! :-) A total win/win!
