You're dear friend's 3YO breaks your plasma TV screen in a temper tantrum. Do you have her pay for a new one?

Tough one. A good friend (IMO) would offer to pay for the new one (or at least for your insurance deductible if that would be appropriate).

If she doesn't offer, I suppose you have to decide whether it's going to hurt your friendship more to just leave it (and possibly be resentful about it) or ask her to pay (and risk being really angry if she refuses).

Can your friend afford to replace it? If she can, then she should replace it.

Has the other mom offered to replace it?

She did indeed offer and already wrote a check! Here's the story I just posted. Expensive evening for her :).

Your friend should pay. Her child is her responsibility and his unchecked behavior is also her financial responsibility.

My precious darling is three and I can totally see her doing this if she does not like the entertainment offered. I would pay up immediately.
