twitter moms: the influential moms network

Holy cow! My PMS since turning 40 has been horrendous at times but never consistent. This week is Cra Z. Melt downs, sad and mad at the same time, anxious HOW DO I GET OFF THIS TRAIN?

Seriously, is there a magic pill I can take to stop the waves of emotions? What do you do to handle the roller coaster of emotions? I had to take a Tylenol PM to stave off the anxious thoughts that were sure to bring on insomnia one night.

THIS is not conducive to growing old GRACEFULLY when you're a raving lunatic!

Actually it sounds more 'peri-menopausal' than PMS. Many women balance their homones with a bio-identical progesterone cream. It's important that you get bio-identical and not progesterone from an animal (as in premarin - which is from a mare...yes, a HORSE!).

Take a look at this site which has TONS of information including recorded shows on the topic Women 4 Balance.

Yes, there is hope for the emotionally unbalanced women over 40! Thank God!

Baby yourself...tan, shop, read, go to the sauna...seriously I think it helps BIG TIME!
Don't take yourself so seriously ...it's just that women in you.
Teach your husband the magic words "I understand" of course he is clueless but that's okay
When he's a big jerk...remember men are raised by wolves...just laugh at him! they don't know what is going on
they just know you aren't as fun as you used to be..
so you think he's gonna dump ya...WRONG...men don't even if you gain 100 lbs...don't believe those
lies!
Just go with it...
remember it's only hormones... we all go through it...
I took some meds for awhile but it made me crazy and weepy...so I just went stag...
I feel great and have had no problems. I went through it 10 years ago..almost
at 37 I am 46 now...I was so stupid...well not informed I didn't even know you stopped having your period!
but I love it...now I am free...free..free...I feel great now...better than I ever did...just think of it as the

Hi, I'm 47 and have been in perimenopause for around 7 yrs. now. Silly, but I didn't know it took like a decade to go through. I've tried bio identical hormones but I had violent vertigo with the smallest doses. I find I have to eat better, especially the week before my period. One supplement I swear by is flaxseed oil and ground flaxseeds. I also take vitamins and calcium, with D and magnesium. Regular exercise, even if it is just walking around the block makes a big difference for me too. If the anger or depression gets concerning, don't hesitate to talk to your gyn about it to find out your options. It's all pretty common. Good luck! You'll get through it! So will I... eventually?!!?

Yes! Actually there is, and it isn't hormone replacement. I can't tell you how much Plus has helped me, but my family disowns me if I let myself run out. It is natural, and much safer than even bio-identical hormones. It provides the building blocks for your body to balance hormones. They are called plant sterols, and we are only getting about 2% of what we need in our diets, unless we are raw eating vegans. I get my products wholesale, and actually use the Optimal Support packets because we need a good vitamin supplement and a good anti-oxidant too. You can go to the site I use and look around if you want: www.mannapages.com/ayrsmoss - The coolest thing I think is that you have 6 months to try it (not those 30 days - oh its too late to send it back kind) risk free. If you aren't satisfied with the results, you can get your $$ back. The site isn't very user friendly. Let me know if you have trouble finding it - browse products, and look at the Optimal Health products.

I take supplements...pregnenalone and DHEA. I also take supplements that help my thyroid because as the hormones go down, so does the thyroid. Make sure to get plenty of calcium too! Exercise is so important...stretching and resistance training is very important...and I'm so with DeeDee on the vitamins and antioxidants. So much of the "good stuff" that used to be in our food supply is gone because of the way we grow our food and so many additives have been put back. just be sure that your getting the good stuff our mothers had in their diets just by eating food!
