Cynthia - I don't suppose anyone can really tell about these things. All I know was that I was starting to notice them, and now they're not there anymore. Who knows? I'm just as stressed out as I was a year ago and I frown just as much if not more at the moment ... who knows.

Thanks, Tina and Joanna, for the tips! My mother is 67 and hers are very deep. I believe I started noticing hers when she was in her 40's or so. I DON'T want mine to get that deep. Her and my eyes are very sensitive to light -- we have light eyes -- and even with sunglasses on, we tend to frown and I almost ALWAYS drive with my sunvisor down, even on not-so-sunny days.

Aside from mom's deep vertical lines, she is fairly wrinkle-free! She has extremely fair skin and has rarely been overexposed in the sun so she has a young look about her.

I do use a microderm polish on a regular basis.

Hey, I'm thinking that when I am at this computer, I ought to put tape on the lines! :) When I sleep, read or am at the computer -- heck, that'd be a good part of my day since I homeschool my son! LOL!

Joanna, do you think the fact that you use a scrub 3-4 times a week along with a good moisturizer is what has greatly diminished your lines?

Cynthia - I too have found that a good scrub 3-4 times a week does work. Right now I am using Oil of Olay's Regenerist detoxifying pore scrub. I also use a good moisturizer. I had those lines, too, and now I don't see them anymore.

about the vertical lines issue....
Im a skin care specialist...
those start when you are about pre-puberty, pre-hormones
which can be as early as 9 or 10
and are usually a sign of a very stressful childhood
and the good thing is, that it is a sign of a loose scalp
which means you will be one of the last of your age group
to go bald, tight scalp is one of the reasons why men bald so fast
be thankful for your loose skin or on top of the furrows you could also be bald aye carrumba!
the most natural thing you can do it to exfoliate
for what ever are how many times a week is normal
for your time of skin and then a real good moisturizer
vitamin e is superior and neosporin is awesome too!
and get regular facials once a month to help rid your stress
I have them, and I have oily skin, I exfoliate with one of those
thin lufa cloths everytime I wash my face
the best way to have caught this would have been to start all those years ago with a good moisturizer to build up the skin and massaging or a faical and remove the ongoing stress

By the way, I know some of you are genetically lucky enough to not have the vertical line issue -- it's something different for each of us, I know! :)
Cynthia Comment by Cynthia on September 10, 2009 at 3:26pm
Anyone have tips for eliminating vertical lines between the eyebrows (no botox, please)? They are starting to show. If I put scotch tape on at night, at least I'm not frowning for 8 hours anyway --- but I have to do this after my stud is asleep or nearly there! :) What in the way of creams, lotions, potions, etc. REALLY works?

I am game! Oh, I try to stay away from parabens and the like.

If anyone suggests something and I try it and it really works, I will send you a gift! :) SERIOUSLY!

Thanks girls!

Now for my second drink of the day -- red grape juice with barley and carrots! My cells are saying 'thank you, thank you'!

What kinds of drinks do the rest of you use to get yourself going?

Wow, I'm listening to the President's speech to some students! He's giving them some GREAT advice! Even though I disagree with most of his policies, I agree with much of this speech.
