Hi everyone, thank you Michelle for the invite. Not sure if I'm sandwiched it. My brother in-law has moved out so my family life isn't tight anymore and stressed free. My grandmother does live 6mths with my mom and 6mths with my aunt. So, right now she is here with my mom. I can see the change in her she is forgetting things, looseing things, and repeating things that she just asked. I've been trying to be a better daughter and granddaughter by going over there and spening time with both of them. They are both my babies and I love them. I took my grandson over to see them lastnight and the smile on my grandmother's face was priceless. I should have taken a pic of her with him for her to keep. That reminds me, I have one I need to give to her. He is the 5th generation.

Not quite a sandwich yet but I will be one day soon. I am an only child and am certain that one or both of my parents will move in eventually. I am also the mother of a 20 month old...what can I say...I'm a planner and looking to learn from people who are currently living in multi-generational households. Looking forward to hearing your experiences.

Hello! I'm a single 39 year old mom of a 16 year old daughter. I Moved my grandmother in with us, because she has short term memory loss. My daughter is now never home.. and I also rescued a 13 year old cat from a shelter a few months ago! We live in a apartment in NYC area.

Hi everyone. I'm not quite a sandwich anymore, but was for 5 years until we moved back to OK from KS. When I was going to marry my husband in Wichita KS in 95, my mother-in-law moved into my house with us "temporarily" during some home renovations, and never left. We had a steady stream of various relatives & friends coming & going, in addition to my college-aged daughter who came home occasionally for weekends and the first couple of summers. It was really hectic at times, never knowing how many people were going to be there for supper or crashing in the den or back bedroom for the night. Indians don't ask for a lot, just a couch or a bed to crash & something to eat, so it's not like I was expected to play hostess. Several relatives would stay for a few weeks to get off the "rez" in Oklahoma until they could get a job & apt, or needed a bed for a semester of vo-tech school. Luckily my husband worked in aircraft and I was an IT mgr at a small aircraft firm at the time, so we were okay financially. We lived in a Quaker neighborhood by Friends University, so our neighbors were great. It was difficult at times with our home being "Indian Grand Central Station", but I wouldn't trade those days for anything. We lost my mother-in-law very suddenly a year ago, and I miss her. Despite her never-ending antics and 2nd-childhood behavior that drove me crazy, there's an empty place in our lives now. I find myself looking for her to pop in at powwows when we've got our booth set up, always ready to dance and show up the people half her age. Back then, there was never a dull moment! Sometimes there's just too much peace & quiet here on the rez, so we'll drive to IHOP at Stillwater 30 miles away, and let the college kids at OSU entertain us for dinner! LOL

We lived with my parents, grandmother, my husband and 3 kids! We b ought their home when my dad was laid-off. Talk about stress! But I wouldn't change it for the world, my kids became close to my parents and grandmother. Now they are gone! Today my daughters and granddaugher and my husband all are happy together, though it still is stressful at times, I love having them here!
