The Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz is very good. I've also heard that they have started a graphic novel series with the same character.
If you've not yet read King's The Dark Tower series, that's another good undertaking.
I've recently started the book series that inspired the Showtime program "Dexter". Book one is titled "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" and it is phenomenal. Completely written from the serial killer's point of view.
I'm anxious to see what other suggestions you get!
If you love history, I'd recommend Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. It's listed as time travel romance, I think, but she writes so well and is really captivating. On the romance front, it's there, but it never gets too hot & heavy. I'm on the third book, and I think I like them better with each one I read.
Since you like Diana Mott Davidson have you tried JoAnne Fluke? Or Tamar Myers?
Charlaine Harris, also, has 3 books in a series- Something about Shakespeare? Shakespeare's Landlord?
Lily Bard is the heroine. I just ordered the Tea Garden Murder by her to. I ran out of books, too.
Stephanie Myers has "The Host"-- it's a bit more grown up than Twilight but same level.
Have you read the Mayweather (Mayfield?) witches series?
Wayfarer Redemption series by Sara Douglas, is an amazing read. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Robin Hobb has a couple of good series
Melanie Rawn, Exiles series, there is another but can't remember
Edward Rutherfors is historical nonfiction twisted into a fictional story, kinda cool all centered in Ireland
Jennifer Fallon has a few good books
Juliette Marillier (sorry I know I botched her name) sevenwaters trilogy and foxmask & wolf skin
Hope this helps you through the New Year
If you've not yet read King's The Dark Tower series, that's another good undertaking.
