Like others have said...as soon as I list my favorite 5, I'll think of 5 others that are equally loved. So, I'm just going to list the first 5 favorites that come to my mind:

The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons - Lorna Landvik
Expecting Adam - Martha Beck
My Sister's Keeper - Jodi Picoult
The Shopaholic series - Sophie Kinsella

1. I agree with "Gone With the Wind" as my A-#1 fave.
2. I'll read anything by Martin Cruz Smith ("Gorky Park") but my fave by him is "Stalin's Ghost"
3. I also love John Le Carre. My fave by him is "The Night Manager" (soon to be a movie)
4.I have a very soft spot in my heart for Helen Fielding's "Bridgit Jones's Diary"
5. Last but not least: Allison Pearson's "I Don't Know How She Does It", the ultimate working mom tome.

This is such a hard question for me. I love to read and have read so many great books. The top ones that pop into my head are:

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Cunt: A Declaration of Independence by Inga Muscio (Best feminist book of all time!)
The Wilde Women by Paula Wall
