Red Robin has menus for specific food-allergy concerns. I have been able to ask the manager for a Peanut-Allergy menu and order with confidence. I heard from another mom that this was available and I'm glad I took the time to ask. I really had no idea that the seasoning they put on their steak fries was a problem.

Love love love "Enjoy Life" line. They are "free of the 8 most common allergens" (wheat, dairy, peanut, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish or shellfish), and many of their products are also gluten and sulfite free. Made in a "dedicated nut and gluten free bakery." They have cookies, chocolate chips, chocolate bars, "granola", trail mixes, food bars and bagels. I have tried most of their stuff- some I love, others I like, some I don't enjoy as much. Oh, my situation is that my nursing baby has food allergies and is sensitive enough that I am on a special diet.
Also "Cherrybrook Kitchen" has some allergy friendly mixes.
Namaste is okay- most like their "Pancake/Waffle" mix. Later I will post a like to a site that has several more good options.

Culver's has a super complete allergy information packet available right on the counter. It seems to cover every item on the menu. Wish every restaurant had this information.

I have to second the kudos to Red Robin. Not only do they have allergy menus, but when I've gone the chef or kitchen manager has come out to talk to us. And when they input the order into the computer they tag it with allergy alert. They are fabulous.

I was just coming in here to say "Enjoy Life" and "Cherrybrook" myself. I'd also add "Simple Food" (they make some fantastic soy butters - a great alternative to a PB&J) as well as "Vermont Nut Free Chocolate." Drats, I had another one, I'll be back when I can remember....

If you know people or have kids with latex allergy (6% of US pop.), Yulex Corp. in Phoenix is making an allergy-safe latex rubber from a plant that grows native to the Arizona desert (called guayule, as in why-YOU-lee). This is a client of mine and they've got a blog, www.guayuleblog.com. Up 'til now, the only safe alternatives for people were synthetic latex materials which are petroleum-based. But this material is 1) made in the USA, 2) safe for people with latex allergies, and 3) safe for the environment! It can be used for safe medical devices, condoms, nipples for baby bottles, toys and so on. Right now, it's just a matter of working with manufacturers to bring it to the market. I thought I'd share this story here in case any moms want to give a shout out to Yulex and help show manufacturers that moms want companies to bring safe, sustainable and US-made products to the marketplace. As soon as I have details on products, I'll share here!

For "fast food, " Chipotle and Noodles have been great. My daughter is allergic to all grains including rice and potato, dairy, soy, nuts/peanuts, fish/sea, eggs...amongst others. When my family goes to Chipotle, we order a "bowl" with Carnitas, black beans, corn salsa, and lettuce. My daughter loves it and has not had any allergic issues. Noodles is very allergy friendly. Just make sure to explain when ordering that food allergy safety is needed and they are happy to accommodate.

Thanks, Erin DeMarines for the info on your 3Bar! I am excited to find out more about your product for myself. I am a runner and cyclist. I will spread the word about your product to my triathlete friends. =)
