twitter moms: the influential moms network

Just thought I'd start a thread about this one. :)

I see there are a lot of folks here with Buddhist tendencies. After many years of studying Buddhism, I really like the "meat and potatoes" of the faith system. When people ask us about "church," it also provides a way out by saying, "oh, we're Buddhist." :)

Anyway, I'd love to hear more about your path with Buddhism (if any).

=)

Have a good one,
Kim

I was just going to post something like this. It's interesting to me that so many of us are interested in Buddhism.

So far my path includes reading a book {shrug} you gotta start somewhere.

My dh was raised christian and was a bit uncomfortable when I declared, as a breath of fresh air to myself, that I don't believe and never did. I just couldn't pretend anymore and didn't want to. Admitting it to myself was huge, he was next. Over time we've had some great talks. One day he picked up a book I had about Buddhism and he was hooked. He really identified with it. We're learning together.

My husband became interested in Buddhism after learning the basics at the UU church. He has several books he enjoys but I can't seem to get into them. I believe in many of the same philosophies that Buddhism teaches and try to instill many of them in our kids. My son is a big believer in karma and is very careful to do the right thing so good things happen to him.
I believe so many of us may be interested in Buddhism because it is a spiritual path and the individual is responsible for their life instead of relying on a god to decide if you are good or not.
I look forward to reading the posts this discussion is going to get!!

I started a Buddhist Moms group here on twitter moms to discuss this type of stuff. and I need at least 10 people before the head twitter mom will let me open the group. Anyone interested?
send me a message on my wall, and i'll gather names and present them to her to open the group.

I would love it. I run a Buddhist moms group on LiveJournal. :)

Things have been quiet there, but it is nice to have it. :)

Great idea! :)
