twitter moms: the influential moms network

OK, here goes...
Being nicer to my MIL
Calling older friends and family who don't have others to listen to them.
Not yelling at my kids (or at least trying harder not to)
Abstaining from Social Networking (after today you may not hear from me for a while :) )
Prayer, bible study, or spiritual reading daily
Making Sunday a Sabbath day and using it to strengthen our family
Working on creating a more stable, loving and clean home for my family.
Talking to my kids about my faith...especially my oldest.

I'm going to be working on three things during Lent.

1. Being more patient with my husband and three kids.
2. Not cursing. I don't really say anything out loud, but I do in my head. And I feel as if that's just as bad.
3. Saying more prayers throughout the day (and I hope for this to get me in the routine so that I continue it throughout the year).

Thanks for posting this, Bridget & Jackie. Seen lots of folks doing this on various social networks. But, somehow, I do not want to share publicly what I am *doing* for Lent. Would rather keep among God and family. No judgment on your public pronouncement: I actually admire these pronouncements esp. ones saying giving up social networks for Lent. But I choose to keep my Lenten fast "in the family." Thanks for letting me share this here. Peaceful and fruitful Lent for all!

This is a good thread!

We usually have a bit of a feast on pancakes on Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday, as this is an adopted tradition for us :-D. Good time to experiment on some recipes, too.

In Lent, my husband and I would add more minutes to our prayers and meditation. Its a perfect time for some fasting and abstinence - a good push factor to get in shape and keep our health in check.

As for my kids, especially the 4 year old, Lent can be a intricate subject should I tell her about the mystery and joy of Jesus' passion, death, and resurrection; and that our soul's salvation came from that.... errr... However, this is the best time to teach her more prayers and establishing a routine for her to do so, e.g. upon waking up and before going to bed. I intend to get her her first bible (children's illustrated) and story book about Jesus. I found some great ones in Amazon. I look forward to Easter where we can craft some greeting cards and tokens for friends and family. I'd make the bunny (yes, its adorable but...) a tiny spectator while we focus on Jesus' picture in our crafts.

Watta is a great way to welcome Spring, too, ei.
