twitter moms: the influential moms network

Your new textbox

Just curious if anyone's joined Gospelr. Is it a positive thing so we can encourage and pray for each other? Or is it just one more example of how we rip off mainstream culture and create a Christian bubble culture? I'd love to hear opinions!

I'd honestly never heard of it until just now. I'm all for prayer and encouragement, but I don't feel like it should only be in certain places. If I ask for prayer, or send out a prayer for someone on twitter, it might affect a non believer. That's what I pray for, to reach the untouched, and be a light like Jesus. I'll stick to twitter.

Personally, I think it is a good thing. It is a refuge from the rest of the social sites were you can vent and get encouragement. I do plenty of non-Christian sites, so to be able to have a place that I can go is a necessary thing.

I have never heard of it. I really like twitter. You are able to talk about your faith like just a conversation, in a non-threatening type of a way. I find it very comfortable. I live in an area of the country that can be sometimes openly hostile to my faith.

I had never heard of it either, but going to check it out later tonight. I personally don't think there is anything "wrong" with it, I might even join. HOWEVER, I won't give up my twittermoms...why should I? If Jesus were alive and on earth today where would you find him? Do you think he'd be in a "Christians only" social network? I don't think so! He would be right in the middle of all the evil, temptations, and all the other stuff going on in today's world w/ his light shining and reaching out to those who need Him. DON'T GET ME WRONG.. I AM NOT SAYING THAT TWITTERMOMS OR OTHER SOCIAL NETWORKS ARE ALL ABOUT sin and evil. I was a bit extreme, but hopefully you will understand what I am saying. I like the idea of being involved w/ things IN the world, but that does not mean I am OF the world. That's my two cents worth! Happy twittering!!

I heard about it a couple weeks ago and visited. For me, I don't think we should always created a Christian version of something - yet be an example within what is already there. Gosplr was just another thing to join for me. I would have been interested if it was a forum like twittermoms - for example. Where you can still have your twitter account and not have to set up a different one with Gosplr.

Wow, what great responses so far. It's really interesting to hear everyone's opinion on this. I haven't signed up with the Gospelr site yet. For one thing, I don't want to sign up and feel stretched too thin and not participate. On the other hand, it is both nice to have an oasis of sorts, and sometimes necessary to find spiritual haven.

Perhaps I'm kind of in the middle right now - it could be a blessing to be a part of it, but on the other hand I don't like to see us separate ourselves too much. As I wrote this, I thought about how Jesus would be in the middle of the crowds for long stretches of time, and suddenly pull away and go off by himself or with a few of his closest disciples. There's a lesson on balance he gave us that I need to always keep in front of me.

I had never heard of it til just now... but as someone else said... I don't have a problem just putting out my prayer requests or talking about God on my Twitter. Maybe I will touch someone.

I actually had to giggle at the fact I tend to get a lot of Youth pastors following me. I have a whole lot of Christians on my twitter friends... so never even thought of changing.

I understand what you are saying..you do have to be a light no matter where you "end" up.

Crystal, nice to get your input. It's easy to isolate ourselves, isn't it? One thing I love about TwitterMoms is the variety of people here. I was thinking that yesterday while at a local political debate. Life is enriched by the diversity and unity of our fellow human beings.

You know, I think it's a little sad how we tend to make our own little worlds and just cut everyone else out! Why not twitter your encouragement and prayer requests? Who knows what non-Christian eyes might be reading and have their heart touched?

I just found out about http://gospelr.com last night actually..... at first I thought, "Gosh, I don't need ANOTHER thing to join... I'm already twittering, I don't need something else!"

But as I read about it, I realized that you can incorporate your Gospelr account with your Twitter account! So, if I post a prayer request or whatever else on Gospelr, it comes up on my Twitter as well. (Benefit: you don't have to Tweet twice!).

However, the only issue I'm NOT liking about it is the fact that I can't CHECK my tweet replies from Gospelr. I still have to go to Twitter. And, since there are only a few Gospelr members, I'm still going to stick with Twitter. BUT.... I'll tweet from Gospelr just to give them support. I like supporting my fellow Christians. :)

Just my thoughts.
Keep on Striving!

I checked it out but I like Twitter better.
I have a page on FaithFreaks though. www.faithfreaks.com/princesstink come check it out.
And Battlecry but I am never there http://battlecry.com/battleplan.php?username=PrincessTink
Our challenge is to be in the world and not of it. We can't always shelter ourselves from the world but we do need times when we recharge so I thinks as always...balance is key.
