Welcome to Dance Moms!

My name is Nichelle and I am the founder of this group. I am a professional dancer, dance instructor, dance blogger, and mom to a young son.

Dance Moms: As a teacher, I know that parents are vital to the experience of student dancers and often vital to the dance school itself. You are chauffeur, hairdresser, seamstress, stage crew, and more in the organism that is a dance studio. Your child's participation in dance may have infiltrated your own life and you probably revel in the ways dance has enhanced your child's life. Parents learn and grow along with their children in their pursuit of dance, and it is helpful to have a support system of other parents and friends that can advise, answer a question, or lend an ear when you need to let off a little steam. I hope that you find that here.

Dancing Moms: To those of you who are dancers yourselves. Your passion for dance can be new or old. You may be a student, former dancer, or enthusiast. No matter what has brought you to dance, it is fun to find others who have a similar love for moving and who want to share their experiences, triumphs, and difficulties in dance. I hope you can find that here, also.

The Group: There are all kinds of moms here, including former pros, instructors, and long-time dance moms. I know they want to share their passion and expertise with you so feel free to post questions, offer thoughts, and share helpful resources and links with the group. I've added a feed from my blog Dance Advantage below and welcome your thoughts on any of the topics posted there.

I travel full time but am trying to hit every class I possibly can. http://search.zumba.com/classes/ helps locate classes everywhere.

I'm the proud single mom of a AMAZING 16 yr old Dancer/Choreographer/Director/Script writer for her High Schools student run SING program, which is a competition of the grade levels. She has been the lead dancer/choreographer since she started HS. Last night her show was phenomenal, and the Juniors won! :)
She wants to major in dance, be a professional dancer, and own a dance studio one day.
I'm looking for a local mentor for her.

We live in Queens County, New York.

I have the pleasure of broadcasting this on my network Dance Advantage Interactive. You can also chat live during the performance with others watching. Second, we are entering a very busy time of year. The holidays are always hectic for me and my family. For everyone celebrating this week, have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Visit Dance Moms when you can. We'd love to hear about your holiday plans, especially if they involve dancing!!

I love this show and always hate to see it end :o(

LOL Great idea for a group -- I started dance as an adult, and now compete in both Irish step and Scottish HIghland dance, working on my teacher's exams in Highland and teaching beginner's classes at my studio. And as of September, my 3yo daughter is in ballet (creative movement). So dance is a big part of our lives and we love it!

Plus I do a hip hop/cardio class where I FEEL like a video girl but look like a total fool -- so I just avoid the mirrors! LOL!

Oops, 5 minutes up, The Peanut requires my attention :) Great to meet you all!

With mom hood, business etc. stella lost her grove. Well guess what I found it, dusted it off and loving every minute of it. I dance a lot now, from ballet/jazz twice a week, to salsa & casino rueda (kinda a salsa square dance) I even take belly dancing classes with my daughter who is in a performance group.

Dancing does a body & mind good.

She did ballet the first year, ballet and tumbling last year (she's definitely not going to be a gymnast), and ballet and tap this year. She really enjoys it.
