twitter moms: the influential moms network

I am very interested to learn more about having parties online. I own a home party jewelry business and I wanted to tell my consultants about the great opportunity of selling online. Have any of you held a party online and could you tell me how it went? Did you hold a party through a special website that handles the party? How many people attended and how many bought?
In advance, thanks for your helpful information!

I sell Thirty-One and the website I have through them has an option to list that persons party. When a person goes to the website, they just click on "Place An Order" and once they've finished shopping, click on that persons name. The hostess gets the credit for the order. I have had a lot of success with this, especially with people that live out of state but want to order from the hostess.

I Love that idea, thanks for sharing! Thirty One is a great company - I met some of their corporate staff!

I sell Southern Living at Home and I find that if I am the hostess and have an online party, I am very successful since I email everyone and reminders and close it out within a week. If I have hostesses do online parties - they are not quite as successful since they don't have the same follow through with their own friends. My website has a feature that allows for online parties: www.southernlivingathome.com/anitakaplan
Hope that helps....

MomChats is a good resource for holding your online parties. I've had one where I sent out an Evite to friends and families announcing this online event. It worked out pretty favorably. You need to do them regularly, perhaps once a quarter to make it work for you.

I've been wondering about this also. I was looking at Megan's recent online wine tasting on twitter to see if there was a way to incorporate that method with online product parties. Without sending samples for a selected number of products to RSVPs ahead of time, I don't see how this can work. It seems to me that part of the success of product parties is the excitement generated from face to face interaction with the host, guests and the products.

Whether it's candles, soap, jewelry etc., it's the see, touch, taste, smell and feel of the actual product that really sells it. Sampling long distance to strangers who may just be looking for something for free can get expensive. Videos and websites are approaching commercial status. It's the person-to-person recommendations that hold the most credibility still.

Just thinking out loud here because I've been wanting to figure this out too.

I have a blog that talks about Hosting an Online Party. I have not tried it YET, but know that it has been very successful for other Party Planning Divas!

Thanks Kristen - this is great information. I will definately look up your tips. Good luck with your Scentsy business! Let me know when you do your online party - I would love to hear how successful it is!

I have done online parties with momchats with a group of other consultants. I use it more as a networking platform rather than sales. Scentsy is still new to many people so it's nice just to get my name out there and introduce the business and products.

Our Scentsy websites allow for online parties for our hostesses. We simply add their name/link to our website and they invite their guests to shop online. The online party orders can also be combined with offline orders.

I see there is alot of buzz about online parties right now! It's actually a great time to have online parties, because kids are back in school and moms are getting back online and have some free time now.

The most important thing to having an online party, is following up with friends and reminding them about it the day or even the moment before the party starts. Many people are already online, they just need an email saying, "Online Party for Company Name Going on Right Now" or something to that effect, to remind them about it. More people will show up if you do that, than just sending one invite a week before and that's it.

My website has wanted to do online parties for awhile now at www.PartyPlanCompanies.com, but just have not had time to research chat rooms, set it up, ect. But now that my kids are back in school, I am working full time and we have implemented a chatroom just for online parties!

The best part, it's Free! We decided to make it free so that more people will want to have parties with us. The chat room has many great features and are not just using a free chat room service, so everyone will benefit from using a great tool online to help boost your business!

Contact me if your interested in having a party!

Happy Monday!
