Kitchen Makeover Help

Finally decided on our new cabinets and worktops for our kitchen makeover - modern (ish) cream units with wooden "butcher block" style work surfaces. The appliances and door handles will all be chrome/brushed steel. Hope i am explaining all this ok as I am in N Ireland and I am sure you use different terms.

Now looking for some decorating inspirations - those finishing touches. I am thinking shabby chic, traditional with a modern twist, maybe a bit retro?
