Traci that is nice of you to watch over that Boxer even though it is not yours. Boxers are FULL of energy and great with kids. Ours are about 9 months old so they still have some learning.

We actually have a quasi 7th dog right now - and it's a BOXER! I really knew nothing about Boxers until this stray showed up on our doorstep. The children were out playing, this dog shows up, naturally I'm Googling to find out more about the breed (LOL), she and the children hit it off instantly. She had a collar, no tag and was EXTREMELY thin; I mean you can see ribs and hip bones sticking out. Long story short, she lives down the road from us apparently, as the owners did come find her a few days later as she came and went freely from our yard to wherever she was going. We were feeding her (of course). But yet, every single day, she is here. Still skinny as a rail - but now with a collar and tag on. Umpf.

My hubby is not a happy camper and wants to get a hold of the owners and ask them 'what their intentions are with this dog' (sounds like protective father doesn't he?! LOL) and would rather we just bring her on in the house and make her ours; but of course can't without speaking to the owners, but we aren't sure exactly where they live. So we continue feeding her and loving on her daily - trying to fatten her up some. We have a dog door for the sidedoor to the garage and intend to unlock that at night and let her sleep in our garage if she chooses to. Most nights she sleeps on our front porch rug at least most of the night - guarding us I guess.

I have six children - three of them raised - one grandbaby, with another one on the way: so yes, if I can have six dogs, you can handle just one. ;)

My 2 cute little boxer pups tore up our spa cover today while we were gone... hubby and mother in law were not happy!

Sounds like you're doing the rights things Lorrie - it just takes persistence and patience. She'll get there. :)

Thanks so much for the the tips Diane and Traci! Yes, Chole and I are walking twice a day for a 30 minutes at a time (which is good for both of us by the way).
I added in tossing a ball for her run after this afternoon for about 10 minutes which is all her attention span would allow. Every time she starts to dig I tell her NO and give her a toy, don't worry for the moment she had NO unsupervised time in the yard. My husband thinks she should be on a lead in the back yard but I have allowed her to stay on the back screened porch today as long as she is good. It has been a much better day but we have a LONG way to go. Thanks so much for ALL your help!

LOL Diane - I think I was STILL typing while you had already finished. I tend to be detailed (aka: wordy) and get interrupted quite a bit with the kids, dogs, etc.... ;) so didn't see what you responded until after I sent mine. But yep, we pretty much said the same thing. ;)
