I personally resisted counseling for awhile (mainly because our marriage counselor sided with my battering husband -- yup, even after he was convicted!) but have since found it a vital part of my healing.
I've not tried any official support groups or group counseling (I sort of felt I'd had enough of those in connection to special needs parenting -- and there are only so many hours in a week lol), but I've heard from some survivors that the group settings made them feel less isolated and shamed.
I'd love to hear what other survivors think/have experienced...
