Hi! My name is Nicole. I am almost (8 days) 26 years old. I have 3 little girls: Kiley 6, Kamryn almost 4, and Kenday 1. I am currently going to school to get dual degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. I work providing respite and habiltation services to twins with Autism, and Im a firefighter's wife. Just wanted to check it out and see if this is a place where people might understand my life, just a tad.

C. Renee, my friends Dad is finally retiring from our dept. in another couple of months. We are happy he is doing it now because both of their health is not in good shape. But, I can't imagine how hard it will be when it comes down to our turn. Can you two get away for a couple of days so it's not so in your face?

Welcome Kizze and Lindsey :)

I am the wife of a firefighter paramedic and I myself am a firefighter EMT. I am glad to see there is a group out here for all of us wifes. They say one of the hardest jobs is being a firefighters wife and mom. I understand completely since I am in the field every week myself. Great place to become supportive for all the wifes of firefighters and for firefighter moms themselves. Keep up the good work!

Good Morning, hope this finds everyone well. I am having a rough day , my husband finally accepted that for health reasons the fire dept could not be a part of our lives he has been retireing for a year now. But everytime i turned around he was going to clean a truck or attending a meeting , every vechile had blue lights you all know the normal for a volunteer FF, but when i got home from work last night he has takeing off all the blue lights and turn in all his gear and suggested a FF to replace him as Asst Chief.I thought i could handle this but this morning i just fell kind of empty i cried all night. I swear it like losing a part of my family .

Nervewracking! I'm a former call FF/EMT. The signs & symptoms he described as presented would not intially have called for any type of additional precautions other than gloves. They had no idea there may have been a hazard until the hospital mentioned the additional testing to rule out the disease. Although they were allowed to return to the station.

Thankfully they are fine, patient was transferred south to a much larger hospital. Hopefully all will be fine as well.

Tonight was turning into an interesting night. My husband called to say his last patient may have had a communicable disease and he might not be home tomorrow. Fortunately he called 20 min later and the hospital tests came back negative and he is fine. Had me worried for a bit.
