Is anyone out there currently training to run a marathon?! I am training with Team in Training for the Seattle Rock 'n' Roll and would love meet anyone else out there training for that race or any other marathon in June. I would also like to see if there is anyone that has trained with TNT to see if I could get any ideas for fundraising.

Happy Running!

My daughter and I just started training for a marathon. We are actually looking to run a halfthon, although my goal right now is to get in shape to do a 5K in September in Brentwood, California. I used to be a runner a few years ago. I was not running on proper shoes, just one day started doing it without doing research first, which was a big mistake. I was a walker who slowly started running until I was running 2 miles three to four times a week and I pulled a hamstring. I kept trying to run on the injury, which was impossible and ended up stopping all together.

My 22yr old daughter has been struggling with her weight since she started puberty. She aspires to one day be a cyclist. I used to talk to her about running, because I wanted to start again, but I was having some problems getting motivated and needed a partner. She recently announced to me one day that she wanted to start running. I was so excited. I will be 41 next month and I am really worried about my health.

So together we did some research and bought a 13 week walk/run program book. We both have some weight to lose, so since she has never run before we are taking it slow starting off with 45 minute walks four to five times a week. I am going to start an online journal...just haven't found the right platform for it. It's really more for me than a reading audience, but it is something I don't mind sharing. That part is not as important as recording it. It's always nice to look back at an accomplishment when you reach a goal. We hope in the next 12 weeks or so to join a running club in our area.

You know I guess I never really answered your question. I just sorta rattled on with my story...Sorry!....I just wanted to chime in and say "Hey, me too!"....well at least about the running part, but I am in Northern California...and I don't even know who TNT is....I am running in a breast cancer event...Thank you for the well wishes Marlene...my daughter's name is Diana....guess I forgot to mention that. Hope you find the support your looking for Ann, and best wishes to you too!!!...

I am trying to convince my husband to let me do the OBX marathon in NC this November. I ran the Disney marathon in January and loved the challenge. He saw it as time consuming training (don't see how- he didn't do it!) Since I am a stay at home mom, I load up my daughter and do my runs. The only runs he watches her are the 15+ mile runs.
I can help w/ some advice for the first timers but would love any encouragement and help as I work towards this fall marathon.
