Hey Ann! Thats a great idea!

Squats are great, push ups are great, mountain climbers are a awesome. Have you considered just carrying around a duffell bag in your trunk with some dumb bells? It's amazing what you can do with dumbells. you can deadlift, Overhead Squat, Shoulder Press/Push Press, Kettlebell Swings, Weighted lunges, etc. And of you cary a piece of PVC you can use PVC for light snatches, clean and jerks, etc. All of those movements will utilize your core and extremeties giving a more effective work out.

I don't want to clutter up the comment wall with suggestions. But I would love to help you :) If interested shoot me a message and we can message or email back and forth some suggestions.

Be blessed.

Hi. I'm new to the forum (well, to twittermoms altogether) and have joined a couple groups. This one is of most interest to me because as a mom with three boys, a demanding full-time job, and of course 823 other things to do, I really need to find ways to squeeze fitness into my schedule wherever and whenever I can!

My two older sons (10YO and 8YO) are both on the swim team and so have practice for an hour a night, 3 - 5 times per week. They practice at the pool in our middle school. I'm trying to use this time to fit in workouts, which realistically have to be 40 mins or less including warm up and cool down.

I'm working on some routines that can be done easily in this sort of setting, don't require any special equipment, don't need floor time (have you SEEN the hallways in a middle school...?), and are flexible to maintain interest. I'm thinking squats, wall-based push ups, mountain climbers, running the stairs... you get the idea! I'd LOVE to hear suggestions and ideas, especially in terms of arm and ab work which is tough to do without getting onto the floor.

If we can develop a set of 6 - 8 different circuit sort of routines, we can post them and everyone can use them while at kids' sports practice, music lessons, or whatever! So... who's in?? ;-)

Ann... the weight could be a good thing. It could mean that you are gaining some muscle. Remember muscle is more dense than fat, meaning it weighs more for equal volume. You could be loosing fat but gaining muscle at the same time.

Or maybe your diet isn't so good... ;)

I don't know... it was just a thought.
Keep up the good work.

After putting on weight last year I enlisted a group of friends to come running with me. I had never ran in my life and said to my friend " I'm not very good and can only run for 20 then wall for 20" she look very confused and replied " I can't run for 20 minutes, to which I replied neither can I, it was 20 paces. So fast forward a year, we are still running and I'm going to the gym twice a week and tonight i went to a new class called "Combat" nearly killed me. How much weight have I lost, sorry to disappoint put on another 8lb. Bugger
