I used to work at a hospital and there were more patients admitted after the holidays for chest pain. A good idea is to have a full glass of water before each meal to fill you up first and then go ahead and eat your favorites but less of each.

I was invited out for the 4th to a picnic while we watched the parade and I only ate one plate full they told me i could have taken some to go for later during the evening fireworks show, but i said no.

I'm sorry, but there are times when a person should endulge a little bit, and I think the 4th of July is one of those times. No, you don't have to pig out, but for goodness sake, have a little taste of everything. I personally ate macceroni and potatoe salad, chips, and I had a very yummy, creamy ice cream sundae - no it was not healthy - it was daggone good. The only thing I did healthy was not have a bun with my hamburger.

We feasted on cherries in between barbeque pork ribs, homemade potatoe salad filled with healthy veggies like celery, olives, bell pepper, cucumbers, and then watermelon and more cherries for dessert! My husband made it all!

Oh man, the 4th picnic I was at, I almost starved!!! There's was nothing healthy to eat, other than a small bit of fruit. I walked through the buffet and I was surprised at what was being served. All fried food, and the desserts!! Holy cow! I thought I might be sick, so much sugar and processed foods. Hopefully everyone else had a much better experience than I did. I was so disheartened to see people eating this stuff.

Visiting Park City this week. I love it here, even without snow! Went for a 10 mile run this morning. Cut down on the mileage a bit because of the elevation. 6500 to 8000+ compared to Portland's sea level. I was calling it my hill run until I started heading back down the "hill" and saw the warning sign for cars: 7-9% grade. I guess it was my mountain run. Finished up the day with upper body strength training and abs. My legs are shot from the run and tomorrow we are mountain biking!
