I'll take a personality test over a party but not any other test! LOL! I'm anti-test all the way. **g**

Interesting stuff, but still don't think I'm drifting toward the middle! Still get wiped by a party! **g**

TeresaR (and anyone else who's interested) if you want to take a free online Myers-Briggs test there is one here humanmetrics I have done this one several times and also been lucky enough to attend various workshops when I was a La Leche League volunteer, where I did the M-B test with a group of people. If you ever get the chance to do this type of thing with a group of your co-workers it can be highly illuminating, LOL!

LOL, Geekmom...I think I'd prefer to take personality tests than go to parties too. I'm also a sucker for personality tests...usually just fun, free ones online. So where do you take your M-B tests?

Guess I should have been a little clearer; I have always felt that my introverted nature contributes to me being shy and socially awkward, just because each interaction drains me. As I've grown into adulthood I'm finding that I am more adept at handling social situations without depleting my energy reserves quite so much. The Myers-Briggs books explain that as you get older you tend to move toward the middle of the scale for each aspect of your personality -- so introverted people become more extraverted, for example, or "judgers" become more perceptive.

I'm a total personality-test geek, I take every one I can find and have taken Myers-Briggs probably 4 or 5 times and read quite a few books about their system. And I think I will probably always prefer to sit at home taking an online personality test than to go out to a party. LOL

Pauline, oh definitely! That's exactly my understanding of introverts - even though we could be the life of the party, we feel drained from social interactions (I avoid parties like the plague and tend to hang out with the food if I have to go...unless someone is talking about quantum physics, then I head over to that group). Introverts look inward for energy and insight. :)

From what I understand, being introverted doesn't mean you don't have good social skills, but that social interaction leaves you feeling drained and tired. Extroverts GET energy from social interaction. From my reading, many introverts are charming and people love them. They just need down time to recover after prolonged exposure to people. *g*

I'm an INFJ according to the Myers-Briggs test - definitely introverted though I find my social abilities have improved somewhat over the years.

I'm an introvert. My natural inclination is to stay home, but there are times when I HAVE to go out in the public and afterwards I feel so drained that it takes me days to recover.

I'm an introvert, too. That is interesting....
