All,
I am asking for your help to achieve a dream of mine and help pay it forward. You may be familar with Shriners Hospitals. There are 16 hospitals nationwide, each with an area of pediatric specialities. They cover the cost of surgeries and treatment for kiddos up to the age of 18. We alternate between Chicago and Philly (mostly Philly now).
My youngest son Owen was born with a rare condition called arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (amc). Owen's condition will require 18-25 surgeries by the time he is an adult. Shriners Hospital has been a lifesaver for our family, picking up the costs of the surgeries along with his various equipment.
I have a chance to do my dream photography assignment-- a black and white photo exhibit and book for Shriners Hospital. All proceeds from the book will go to Shriners. I plan on taking photos of burn victims, staff interacting with patients, parents waiting for their children to come out of their 1st or 10th surgery, doctors interacting with patients, patients affected by spinal cord injuries playing basketball in the atrium and more.
Three objectives are:
To increase awareness of Shriners hospitals and its dedication to providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs
To generate donations for the hospital through sale of the prints and a photography book which shares additional stories.
To provide and encourage understanding and mutual support among anyone affected with a disability.
The grant/award goes towards equipment, marketing and airfare. You can read my full proposal and vote for me here:

On the left hand side of my page is a PIC IT button. If you click that you will need to fill out a brief registration. The Top 10 ideas will then get reviewed and judged on creativity, thought and originality.
The contest runs until April 3 and the idea with the most votes win. Shriners Hospital is thrilled at the chance to get the publicity but to also be recognized for their contributions. Please forward on to friends or anyone that may be willing to help. Tweet it, mention it on Facebook, whatever you can do to help spread the word. This is a great opportunity for those affected by disabilities.
Thanks for your help. Please let me know if you have questions. I attached a screenshot so you know what to look for on my page. Also attached is a picture of my son Owen riding his horse Spanky at hippotherapy.
