Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions to whiten laundry in a natural way. I use some baking soda, and sometimes peroxide, but I'm not having much luck. Any suggestions? Hope you all are doing well. Take care!
Laundry is the one place I have trouble going green. I have 3 girls so I like to keep the clothes nice enough to pass down. I have tries baking soda, Borax, and the sun... nothing seems to work like a good stain stick though. SO, I am also interested in an answer to this.
Melabrite from Melaleuca the Wellness Company works great, is toxin-free, safer for your family and the planet! I sent you some info on the prices!

I use MelaBrite from Melaleuca. It is a color-safe brightener. They also have laundry detergent, fabric softener (liquid and dryer sheets), and stain pre-treater. The entire line works like a dream, is safe for your family (including infants) and the environment, and costs less than national brands. Here is a link to their laundry line:
I use a stain stick from Ecover that works really well. I've also heard that perioxide can be used as a whitener in the laundry, but I've never tried it.
This isn't totally natural but it is environmentally friendly... I soak my cloth diapers in a bit of oxygen bleach. Oxygen bleach is different from chlorine bleach in that when it breaks down it turns into simple H2O. See info at this website: http://www.grassrootsstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&Pr...
Curious about bluing for whitening white clothes. You know, like Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing? It's supposed to be non-toxic and bio-degradable and it's worked well for us. And we even were able to find it at a discount store :) Anyone happen to know the pros or cons on it?
I just wrote an artice on this! I use bluing and oxygen bleach. Here are 5 other methods I researched http://condo-blues.blogspot.com/2009/06/5-nontoxic-and-natural-bleach.html.
