twitter moms: the influential moms network

Some days, I question whether I made the right choice to home school. Not really. It's just that there are days when I'm under the weather, or when progress is elusive.

Then, there are the moments when I see that we're both learning so much together, and truly enjoying each other company.

Today, on a field trip at the Museum of Natural History, my 9-year-old son taught me more than I thought I would ever want to know about prehistoric worlds. He was confident, engaged, and loving every moment. And, I was loving every moment with him!

Did you have any of those special moments this week?

One of my children is twice exceptional (highly gifted and learning disabled) one of his issues has always been writing (dysgraphia and other things). Well, he has really blossomed in writing this last year, creative writing, and he just started a program called Writeguide. WOW! I am amazed at what a good writer he is, soooo creative, lively, and fun. Makes me smile to think about how far he has come :)

My ds can draw nicely when he is in the mood. Usually he can't be bothered. We've been clearing out his room to paint it. Under his bed I found this really nice drawing of a lighthouse and the ocean and a boat. I asked him, who drew this? He seemed a little miffed that I asked, since he had drawn it. :) I was really surprised and happy that he can draw well, and that he chooses to draw when he feels like it.

This week, all on her own, my daughter picked up and read Biscuit and Biscuit Finds a Friend! She usually fusses and fights anything that resembles reading, but she wanted to read to my younger son :)
