How old are your kids?
27, 25, 22, 9, 8 & 6. The oldest three are married and gone. My 22 year old is mom to my grandbaby Lilly and my 25 year old & his wife are expecting their first in April 2009. Oldest has been married one year and is now in grad school. I graduated my 22 year old from homeschool in 2004. Oldest two graduated from public school. Youngest three are homeschooled.

How do you homeschool?
Ecelectic style for sure, to accommodate each child's learning style.

Where do you hang your book bag?
Missouri, USA

What do you love about Homeschooling?
The family time. The flexibility in how and what we teach to suit each child's interests.

Any good resources you can't live with out?
There are so many! Here's just a few of my favorites:
DonnaYoung.org
Old-Fashioned Education (free curriculum for K-12)
Science for Kids (cool science experiments from the American Chemical Society)

I have many others, but have run out of time. I look forward to getting to know everyone. :)

I'm Julie. I have two kids- 13yob and 9yog. I've been homeschooling since 1999. We use the "neo-classical" approach, whatever that means. I follow the book The Well-Trained Mind pretty closely, and I love the philosophy. I love the idea of giving my kids a better education than I had in public grammar/high school.

We are in Atlanta, GA- I'm a Yankee transplant who arrived in GA for graduate school. I love homeschooling for the freedom, the educational benefits for my children and for the closeness it brings to their sibling relationship. I love being the primary influence in their lives by a large margin. It's not about quality time, for me, it's about having all the moments available, so the quality ones can have the chance to sneak up on you.

Hello, I'm so glad I found this place? My children are 14, 13, and 10. I homeschooled the older two until they were 3rd and 2nd grade, and them we moved and I put them in school. My husband lost his job four years ago and I went back to work as a special education teacher. I taught for three years, then my husband got another job and now I write full time (I'm a novelist and freelance writer). We decided to go back to homeschooling because we are planning to move again, my son had a terrible time in junior high, and after working in the schools and seeing things from that end, I didn't like the influences surrounding my children. I will admit is has been a struggle getting into a routine, but its starting to work out.

We usually start school at 9:30 and work until about 2, with a 45 minute break in between for lunch. What I love the most is getting to spend time with my children, they will be out of the house before I know it. I'm still finding resources, but www.educationworld.com is a great one, along with www.edhelper.com. I also order from www.christianbook.com, and I recently joined netflix so I could order science and history documentaries. We use the library as much as we can, and for PE we go to the Y, although my son doesn't go, he works out at home.

Hi! I'm Cindy in Florida. I have 2 sons ages 15 and 13 they are currently in grades 11 and 9. We are in our 13th year of homeschooling. We are eclectic homeschoolers. This year I am working 2 part time jobs so our schedule has changed a lot. We are currently using Switched on Schoolhouse for math (Alg 1 and Alg 2) and science (Physical Science and Chemistry). We us progeny guides for literature, easy grammar plus for grammar, Truthquest American History, Old Testament Survey curriculum that I am writing for Bible elective, 15yo is doing Spanish, 13yo is doing a drawing class. They both play piano, are in the homeschool drama group I direct, are on the homeschool bowling league and are very active at church. I love being able to work towards mastery and to work at my boy's pace. I love being able to take off a Friday and run away to Disney World and then do school on Saturday. I couldn't live without my computer and the internet, especially now that the boys are in high school.

I homeschool 1 son (13) who wishes about 50% of the time to be back at public school but the other 50% is happy he is homeschooled. We are not religious - this limits a lot of group things for us since there are a lot of very religious in your face types around here (not all religious are like that at all - just several in our area who make things difficult) We use Time4Learning for the bulk of our lessons, but supplement with a little of this and a little of that. Very computer oriented.

I'm just returning to homeschooling after giving our local public school a try for a year and a half. Bless the teachers, they are in survival mode, I feel for them - last straw for us was a kindergarten classroom with 30 kids and one very very tired teacher. My girls are 5 and 6 - I taught them for preschool but now we are doing 1st grade and kindergarten work so it is a much different scenario. I am not using a specific curriculum but have gathered together a variety of materials, books, websites, textbooks, etc.

My favorite thing about homeschooling is going off on tangents - I love reading a book that brings up an idea that leads us to a website that gives us a great idea for field trip that we capture with an art project, etc etc...

My favorite resource of the moment is the Half Price Bookstore near us - incredible stuff, incredible prices

Currently looking at places (such as this) to connect with other homeschooling mommies locally, nationally, globally

Hello - I'm excited to find a homeschooling group here on Twitter Moms! My name is Tammy and we are in Florida. I have 4 children, but only homeschool my youngest, who is 6. My older children are in high school and middle school and quite honestly when they were little I never even considered homeschooling. I am so glad I decided to homeschool my youngest though because he and I are both enjoying it so much. I try to adhere to a schedule during the day and I follow our local public school attendance schedule - meaning that when my older children have vacation days, or breaks, then I also allow my homeschooler those days off as well. I'm looking forward to sharing, and learning with everyone. :)

Hi, I'm Laurie Bluedorn from New Boston, Illinois. My husband and I write books on homeschooling, Biblical Greek, history, and others. We used to travel around the country speaking at homeschool conventions and other meetings but we're too old for that now. Our two sons write logic books and own Christian Filmmakers, our oldest daughter writes and illustrates children's books, another daughter raises German Shepherds, and the youngest daughter is my head housekeeper, as she likes to call herself. We homeschooled our kids from 1975-2002 and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything!

I'm mel. We're in WI right now. We've always homeschooled. I have four beautiful children that I love homeschooling! We use living books, much of Charlotte Mason's ideas, and mostly follow Ambleside Online's curriculum and schedule (although we schedule pretty loosely!) I love being able to watch my children pursue their own interests. Life is just so amazing! And I am glad they are learning that, too, and not just sitting in a classroom, working through textbooks and trying to please their peer group (who they will never really think about again after they grow up!) I am also so thankful that I have the opportunity to really get to know my kids. They are the greatest people! And I so treasure the time I have with them!

I also love The Old Schoolhouse magazine. What can't I live without???? My computer, of course! And printer! I love free etexts of old, out-of-print classics. I love Ambleside Online's curriculum. It is free! And available here: www.amblesideonline.org And of course, I need my Bible. I need daily instruction from the Word to teach It to my children. And to live it myself!

I'm Debbie from IL. I have 5 children ages 6, 8, 9, 16, 18. We've been homeschooling for about 8 years now. I've tried lots of different styles and curriculum. When the three youngest were under school age we pretty much unschooled, but as they grew, my style changed. Now we are still pretty eclectic and kinda lean on Waldorf for support.

I'm Johwey. My girls are 4 and 12. We just started homeschooling this year and I follow a formal and structured curriculum that is loosely based on "The Well-Trained Mind" by Bauer and Wise.

We're currently in Illinois.

What I love most about homeschooling is the one-on-one instruction that my kids get. They learn at their own pace.

:D

How old are your kids? Son that is 15 ,daughter 8 and daughter 5
We started homeschooling 2 yrs ago, we were going to private Christian schools when God pretty much said "You are going to homeschool now" I said "Nooo not me, I can't do that" well we love it now, he was right as always.
How do you homeschool? Pretty much eclectic approach, we use what ever works the best to get it done, my oldest is doing Switched on Schoolhouse 9th grade plus added classes to add credits to his transcript.
The younger 2 are doing all sorts of things from Abeka, Time4Learning, FIAR, unit studies, workbooks etc.
Where do you hang your book bag? (general area, no need to list your city and state, if you don't wanna) We live in the foothills of North Carolina, near Hickory

We sleep late, I am a fulltime ER nurse that works crazy hours until 3am, so we do school all times of the day/night. Our family has grown so much closer by being home together all the time. My teen and I have bonded so much more than when he was in traditional school
Any good resources you can't live with out? Twitter is fun, I am addicted to FAcebook and blogging, I love to glean information from others that are more experienced or going thru the same things we are.
