Can homeschooling moms own a successful home business and homeschool effectively?

Can homeschooling moms own a successful home business and homeschool effectively? Homeschooling is becoming a hot trend for a lot of moms who have a home business. It is not only effective way to educate your kids but it is time efficient and productive for children. For women who have a home business of any kind, homeschooling is the best way to go. It is quite possible to manage homeschooling your kids and making money online and let me tell why.

I want to explain why I recommend moms who have a home business to homeschool their kids. Not every mom will have endurance to do and not every one will agree with what I think on this matter.

When I decided to make money online and I commited myself to becoming an enterpreneur, I had to make a decision about my kids. My kids are my main reason why I do online business and knowing how busy I was homeschooling was best option. You would think, “Tatyana is nuts with her ideas” But before you do that, let me tell what I think.
If my kids were in a traditional school enviroment they would be in school mostly of the time. Yes good for me but not for them. They would be exhaused, grouchy, sleepy or worst on sugar rush! I would still have to do homework with them and spend hours explaining what teacher was supposed to do. It will leave me brain fried and my 6 year old will not be a happy camper.

Their well being is a big factor. With my schedule I can homeschool my son in the morning or afternoon and even spread it out. It is not a chore for him but joy. My school does not always involve sitting at the desk and spelling words. Life is a big fun game. We do cooking together, baking, cleaning, and even do shopping. He learns things from me and we build trust and love for each other. We learn about how to connect with each other from day one and not when he turns 14

If I have to go on a business trip my husband homeschools him and it is so easy and so flexibile. As you can see there are few points that I want to make

1. Time

2. Building Relationship

3. Fun

That is the beauty of homeschooling for work at home moms. It is doable. Everyone can do it if they really want it. Want and desire are the keys to successful homeschooling for moms who want to make money from home.

My son has the appreciation for what I do. I work at home. I am a bread provider for the family as well as my husband. He knows my time. He knows my schedule and I respect our time together when we do projects and do homework.

I think managing myself is the imporant factor why I can do homeschoolig, run a home business, be a mom and a wife. It is simple if you make it simple. I do not get my son involved in too many things as sports, music and arts! . I do not want to overwhelm him with all activities. Overloading kids with too much to do will never leave time for yourself and family.

Here are 10 tips for homeschooling moms who want to work from home but do not have enough confidence if they can do it:

1. Plan your week activities ahead of time

2. Every morning spend time eating or cooking breakfast together with your kids. It builds an amazing bond with your children.

3. Start your school program with simple reviews and spend about 45 minutes per each session. If you are homeschooling a preschool age children, two to three hours or school with activities is plenty.

4. Try to be done with school before lunch or shortly after. I do my best to finish all the school work before 1.30PM.

5. Afternoon is the time when I am getting back to my clients and customers. My son is involved in his quite activities as drawing, painting, or working with his lego sets.

6. When evening comes, make sure you spend at least an hour with your spouse and kids. Spring is around the corner, so make sure to get out outside for at least 45 minutes without phone interruption.

7. Evening hours could be from 7.30-8.30 PM. That is what I do every day when I have to get back to my prospects and training team members

8. If you have a growing team in your existing business, it is a great idea to host a team call once a week and provide training that way you do not feel you are babysitting every single member of your team.

9. If you work at home and have a busy schedule with your homeschooling, do not be afraid to let everyone know what you do and your time schedule.

10. Have fun! There is no point to homeschool and have a business if you do not enjoy it! Ask for help from others in your family or business associates from time to time.

Have fun homeschooling and making bug bucks!

It is not for everyone I agree. Sometimes I wonder how I dot it but it is my goal to make money and provide for me and my kids and bring better education.

May be in future I will enroll my son in a good private school but for now there is none that meet my criteria of top education

Everyone has to find the path that is right for them.

I believe that many are handicapped by preconceived notions, stereotypes of what 'schooling' is and this can cause many to feel "less than" :/ Some examples of this? That 'school' has to involve sitting at desks, marching thru bookwork, for X amount of time. That tests are meaningful measures of a child. That children are empty and perhaps leaky containers we have to fill with information and 'fix'.

When I homeschooled my first 4, I fell for a lot of those notions. I ended up quite disillusioned with homeschooling. AND there would have been no way I could have worked a home business into that, as well!

Since I'm unschooling my youngest, and no longer falling for those notions, I am not only thrilled with how it's going, I am very, very happy with how working a home business is totally do-able. AND how fun they both are!

Blessings...

Tatyana, thank you for sharing your passion for your business as well as your passion for home schooling.

It does take desire and passion to make both work. I have found that I need to give up to be able to give to both my children and my business. TV is non-existent in our home and I find that time on the treadmill or time in the tub is doubled up with reading. Did I mention sleep?

Getting up before the kids and getting showered, dressed and focused as well as answering emails and tweeting, making my connections on Facebook and cranking out an article or blog BEFORE we begin schooling has helped me be more focused on the kids rather than on what I need to be doing to move my business forward.

Creating action lists for each day has again, helped all of us to stay focused and I am thrilled to be sharing the love of an entrepreneur and the options available to my kids on a daily basis.

Success is not about book knowledge but about being able to think creatively, being able to connect with and create meaningful relationships with others and to be confident, even when wrong.

To your success and beyond!

When I started reading your post I thought: "Huh? Are there more people like me?" Its so great to be here and read your thread. We (hubby & me) are both entrepreneurs and our 3 kids go to a very expensive private school, fulltime. After the Christmas break thats gonna change and they stay home.

I am looking for ambitious business women / business families to share ideas and inspire eachother to make most of the business and most of homeschooling.

Education is one of the highest values in our family. The kids learning more about their own interests and growing their passion, is another. Homeschooling will be the perfect ground to start achieving our goals.

Our idea is to bring in a tutor 2-3 times a week. To work on academics and have some time for ourselves to have client meetings. I am sooo excited!

P.S. I am looking for ideas concerning good tutors / companies for my kids 3/5/6 year old.

I also use www.time4learning.com is a good online foundation.
Homeschooling is so rewarding. You may not see results right now but within few months. Also my kids develop respect for what I do and my businness and th ey know when mommy works.
Your younger kids will learn faster as well. My three year old son know more at his age than my oldest son knew at 3 years old. He even knows what youtube and myspace. Future internet marketer. haha.

Anyway have a great day. Make it fun. relax..

I have 3 children. An 8 year old, 3 year old and 5 month old. I was a sales director with a direct sales company for 7 years. A great company, which I'm still a part of as a consultant. After my 3rd child was born I decided to leave my leadership position to devote more time to the family and schooling. I am in the process of starting a new coaching and encouragment biz for the stay at home, work at home, homeschooling mom. The 1 thing that I have found the most helpful when it comes to schooling and working is when it's school time I have to be focused on school and my children. It seems when I try to multitask between schooling and blogging, writing, twittering and etc.everyone gets a little edgey. I think it's important to set a schedule for work and school and do your best to stick with it.

Awesome comment, Jacqui! I definitely agree. I have to "leave work" at my desk and just concentrate on our homeschool when it is school time, otherwise I'm just not as in to it...and the kids can tell. Great article here! - TraceyJacqui said:

I think that homeschooling and working at home can be done, but there are a few important things to consider (most of which I think have already been mentioned). First, it depends on what your goals are. If you want to do both, then you will need to consider which one is the priority, and work around it. It might mean devoting significantly less hours to work in order to keep homeschooling running smoothly. When your children get older, you can always increase the number of hours you work.

Second, I believe it depends on the business. I am with a direct sales/marketing company which permits you to set your own schedule, but does not really allow for inclusion of my children. Other work at home opportunities are more amenable.

Third, I sincerely believe that highly organized people can do a lot with their 24 hours. When I grow up, I am going to be such a person! AND part of being highly organized and efficient means being able to say NO to some things.

My two cents.

Thanks so much for an inspiring post. We have been homeschooling for 10 years and owned a dance studio when we began HSing, now I'm building a life coaching business at home and am striving to get the scheduling "right". I will work to implement several of your tips.

Thanks so much!

It absolutely can be done! I'm a single mom and support myself and my children with my work at home business. I also homeschool my youngest son, who is 6. It does require that I keep to a schedule each day. I work from 9 am to 9:30 while my son eats breakfast, then from 9:30 - 10:00 I show him what we are going to be learning for the day and get him started on his lessons. I then do some more work from 10:00 - 11:00 while he works on his own. From 11:00 until 2:00 we work together on lessons and grab some lunch. Then I sneak in some more work from 2:00 - 3:00 while he finishes up any lessons we didn't complete. From 3:00 to 5:00 we run errands, or have playtime outside, go to the park, etc., then it's dinner time, and I then work another 2 or so hours after his bedtime. It does require a set schedule - but it can be done. :) And, I love it -

I don't think it is a question...i think that if you are home schooling you SHOULD own a home business and let your kids help and do it as part of their schooling so they learn how to run a business. My parents had a printing business in our home and iit has helped me tremendously through life.

I own an online digital scrapbooking store. So it can be done! It is just a matter of scheduling your time efficiently. :)
