twitter moms: the influential moms network

Hi- I'm a single mom with a 12 year old son enrolled for the last year in an online Mastery Program. My son's father has taken me to court to get my son back into Public school citing academic quality and socialization of the alternative program as the main issues. He has also filed for custody.

The courts have sided with him and have taken a decidely dim view of me for advocating the alternative school approach. However, I didn't choose our current homeschool situation lightly. It came after years of deep disatisfaction with the public school system over a long period of time, as I'm sure others may relate.

I'm frustrated and sad that I've finally found something that is so right for him and may be loosing that...

As the end of the school year approaches and we are coming up on a finalization on this issue I would love to hear about other moms out there who have dealt with the legal system and homeschooling.

Thanks!

Hi Jennifer-
Ditto check with HSLDA and your state laws. If you have primary custody, then I think in most states you get to make the schooling decisions. But HSLDA will be at your side. http://tinyurl.com/ciga
