I am stuck on what to teach for 12th grade, do you teach American Govt/ Economics? What is some of your favorite curriculum for the different subjects, especially English?

My favorite Economics and American Government is the Uncle Eric Series which includes "Whatever Happened to Justice" and "Whatever Happened to Penny Candy."

This gives a good scope and sequence for all grades.

We have used Sonlight all the way and enjoy their approach.

When my eldest was doing grade 12, we studied drama and plays. The book we used was "The Stage and the School". We also studied economics and gov't. The government teachings mainly consisted of her reading weekly magazines like Time, Macleans, etc and discussing the stories.

If your child is college-bound, check out Merit Academy's high school curriculum. It is WASC accredited and prepares students to be successful the top colleges. You can purchase the "12th grade curriculum" or you can purchase individual courses. It comes with weekly curriculum frameworks, list of readings, field trips, projects, in-class readings, movies that tie into the subject, and more. My daughters used the curriculum and they ended up in Stanford University (and Stanford Medical School) and Claremont McKenna College.
