Jennifer - You're so right! I'm personally shy too, but there are a lot of misconceptions out there. I added a discussion about being Shy, Introverted or Both - please feel free to add your thoughts or even start a new discussion!

I think the biggest misconception that I struggle with as an introvert is the idea that introverts are not good socializers, or that they are shy. Many of the most interesting, socially adept people I know (and I don't necessarily count myself in this category) are actually introverted. Introverted as I understand it means that you get your juice/ your batteries recharged from time alone -- something that I think may be under-rated or underindulged, by extroverts and introverts alike. For me, being introverted as a mom, I really related to the comment about the pendulum - swinging from one extreme to the other. I'm still trying to find the balance, and am excited to hear what other introverts have to say here!
