twitter moms: the influential moms network

I see that the majority of us have 4 kids, but a good number have five (and some sixes and sevens in there too!) Just curious how many kids all of you plan to add to your family, whether through birth or adoption?

When I had three kids, I thought that was my limit, but after I had four I found myself much more open to the idea of having more. Since we're young parents and would like to enjoy some freedom in our late 40s and 50s, we don't plan to have more beyond 5, but the idea of stopping there makes me a little wistful (even as I shudder at the idea of trading in our minivan for a conversion van...)

Anyone have a definite idea of how many kids they'd like to have?

I think we're happy with four. I had four in five years, so they're all close in age. I'd get bad cases of "baby fever" soon after my babies were born . . . up until the fourth. Things may change, but right now this is a good place for us.

Meagan, it's possible to get six carseats in a Toyota Sienna. I've had five harnessed seats and a booster in mine. Let me know if you ever need to do it. ;-)

Hopefully, we are done. Baby number 4 was pretty much a surprise. I am getting too old and tired to have any more!

We have 6 now and I would like to have one more. Hubby wouldn't mind having more than that!

Had I not had a hysterectomy 5 years ago, I would've had more I'm sure. So I had 7 - Zachary died in 1998, so we just have the 6 left with us.

I hope to have 8 children. I have 3 now and currently TTCing #4. I went through 4 years of secondary infertility between baby 1 and 2 and really learned the miracle that conceiving and carrying life is. It is a miraculous experience and I've always wanted a large family so, God willing, I hope to have 8:)

well I'm pregnant with my 4th right now and have decided that this will be my last baby..even though I'm only 24 I feel that I'm done plus my body is worn down from being pregnant and I just don't think I could go through it all again..so my fiance and I have decided no more after this one although this will be his first baby and it's a girl he's ok with me making that decision so when I go in to see my OBGYN on the 10th of December I'm telling him to tie my tubes. I just feel complete with 4 kids..this baby is a girl so I will have 2 boys and 2 girls so I think that pretty much evens things out..lol

We have 5 and are done. I knew while pregnant with my 5, I was done. Had she been twins, I would have been happy because I wanted 6, but 5 is good too. :)

I have four and I am done. Four was a HUGE surprise and honestly my body has been through too much. I went through cancer and chemo during my pregnancy but delivered a healthy baby girl November of 2007. I have all girls! I am content with my little women. :)

We are open to as many as we are given. I can't imagine being done now or with the next one. I love my job.

We will be having our fourth in the beginning of March. We want to have as many children as God blesses us with. I can't imagine wanting to stop and we look forward to all of our new additions! Being parents in today's world is definately different and sometimes difficult, but we wouldn't change it for the world!

I read your question and had to laugh! We have 4 that we raised and 2 in heaven. Thats why we stopped when we did. We had our 1st 2 and then our 3rd died of SIDs and the fourth was a miscarriage. 5 and 6 were great but it was hard not to worry. About 5 years after # 6 my honey and I were talking and wishing we had been braver and had a few more. Sometimes I even get the baby blues now that all mine are leaving home! Then I think about it again and say "no way am I starting over! lol We are to old and grumpy for no sleep!

It is great to raise wonderful children and we so enjoy ours. It makes me sad to hear parent talk about not being able to wait till their kids all leave home, I kind of wish some of mine would stay a little while. :)
Of course it is nice to look at them as adults and be proud of them. Ours are really great people and we love seeing that!
