twitter moms: the influential moms network

I see that the majority of us have 4 kids, but a good number have five (and some sixes and sevens in there too!) Just curious how many kids all of you plan to add to your family, whether through birth or adoption?

When I had three kids, I thought that was my limit, but after I had four I found myself much more open to the idea of having more. Since we're young parents and would like to enjoy some freedom in our late 40s and 50s, we don't plan to have more beyond 5, but the idea of stopping there makes me a little wistful (even as I shudder at the idea of trading in our minivan for a conversion van...)

Anyone have a definite idea of how many kids they'd like to have?

We have seven and take them one at a time. After improving my health and losing 45 pounds I'm now ready to try for #8. We have a nice Suburban that seats 9 and are going to get the third row seating in the back before we have the next one. I'm not quite ready for the 15 passenger. :)

My husband and I have planned on having a couple of kids but a couple years after our second child was born we found out we were pregnant with twins. Then surprise, surprise, 3 years later, we found out we were pregnant again. This time we did not find out they were twins until 5 months into the pregnancy. So we have a 9 year old, a 7 year old, two 5 year olds, and two 2 year olds. Although we did not plan on having 6 children we are so blessed to have them. After the second set of twins were born, I had my tubes tied. Last week however, I had an ectopic pregnancy. It has been a rough couple of weeks, but 6 kids is it, our quiver is full.

When I was young - I always said I was going to have 20kids until I learned how they got out of the belly then I quickly changed it down to 10. My hubby was good with just 1. We had two biological and then got into foster care (not to adopt) and keep ending up with these adorable newborns that we keep adopting! LOL! We're up to 6 kiddos currently and I *think* we're stopping but I can't say for certain. Hubby who was done at one and then changed his mind has said he thinks we should take a break for a little while and maybe start fostering again when the littles are bigger - ours are ages 1, 3, 4,5, 11, & 13. We do have a 12 passenger van so there's room for at least a couple more w/carseats ! lol

I have 9 and my family is complete. I didn't start out thinking I'd have a big family but after #3 I decided to roll with it and take each baby as they may come. Here we are at 5 girls and 4 boys.

When we hit 4, we were kind of ready to call it quits. Then number 5 came (16 months later). We are now actually considering evening it up with one more. Not sure yet though. I was an only child and had tons of imaginary friends and vowed when I grew up, I would have a large family...lol

I have four - two boys, two girls. If the youngest hadn't been that second girl, I'm sure I'd be going for No. 5. I so wanted a sister for my daughter, and once I had her in hand, I was content to be done. Plus my partner in crime (ha! husband) said No More. So I guess we are done (unless we goof up precautions, then I would be pleasantly surprised).

When my kids are older, I might do foster care... There are so many kids out there that need help from stable families.
