I am loving the comments on this group's comment wall. I think the term mean mommy makes the hairs on the back of most people's necks stand on edge. But I grew up in a household where my mother meant what she said, "No snack until you have hung up your coat and backpack." Now that's not mean, it's teaching your child routines, and that actions have consequences. And that's how I'm raising my four children.
Ladies, kudos to you for standing by your word and teaching your children you mean what you say. They may complain and throw fits at us now, but they will love and respect us later. My mom used to always say to us kids, "Calling me a mean mom is only telling me that you LOVE me and that I am doing my job." Isn't that great! I just love that phrase and will continue to recite it every time my child tells me how awful I am :) .
I'd love for you to share with me some of your mean mommy moments, and remember we're just doing our jobs :) .
