Many people ask me "What exactly is a Metromom?" A Metromom is a driven, evolving woman committed to her family, her career and to managing her own home-based business on her own terms..

My name is Kim DeYoung and I’m the founder of Metromom.com. I’m the original metromom, a mother of three and a serial entrepreneur. Through the ups and downs of my entrepreneurial career I discovered the value of “business supporters.”

I've experienced that there's an inevitable feeling of isolation when you're working alone. There are the skeptics—friends and family members who have their doubts about what you do. Even those that do support you, like your stay-at-home mom friends or working friends, don’t really “get” what you do.

You crave colleagues, work connections—women who understand your business career, your choices and your challenges. You’d like to get out there and network more or attend business and marketing trainings but it’s tsometimes ough as a mom to find the time.

Knowing how that feels I decided to get out there and find fellow metromoms just like me!

After a great corporate career in the fashion industry, working with companies like The Gap, Banana Republic and DKNY, I took the entrepreneurial leap 10 years ago and never looked back. Initially, I designed and produced Metromom Maternity—a line of "must-have" pieces for the urban woman—that exploded through a direct sales program I developed. Then I evolved into a business coach and a direct sales marketing executive with Melaleuca - The Wellness Company.

I learned a lot of important lessons and achieved a certain level of success. However, within a short time I quickly realized the need I had for business supporters. When I started reaching out to metromoms I soon discovered that many of my most-treasured relationships are with women and moms in other home-based businesses.

Here’s what Metromoms believe…
- You can have a fulfilling career AND achieve financial freedom as a mom working from home.
- That the fastest, easiest way to attain success is to SURROUND yourself with business supporters – other women who are already achieving the kind of lifestyle you desire.
- You must stay on top of the latest marketing, business and mindset strategies BUT implement these suggestions authentically…you do business as moms on your own terms.
- You can find the right balance and take care of your business, your family and yourself WITHOUT being weighed down by guilt.
- You need to connect with like-minded women for a daily dose of wisdom, support and guidance.
