for me its swiching between work and family and staying on top of each. I work at home for a telcom firm, plus run an online business, so it can be a stop..start.. sort of thing. Also, keeping my calendar straight..the only thing that has worked there is putting it all on my blackberry and carrying it everywhere. I need more help staying orgainized. My top 3 are my calendar, task lists, and paper/electronic files.

PAPER. No matter what I seem to do and how I try to organize it, there's always a pile left over of stuff that just doesn't seem to have a place to go. Then I stick it in a Miscellaneous folder (just to put it somewhere) and forget about it. Any advice?

Staying organized! I feel that I set up systems, but am not always able to keep up. I maintain just 1 calendar for everything so that I don't overbook, but still things seem to fall between the cracks. And like the other replies - paper, lots of pieces of paper everywhere! My notes, notices from school, mail, things to 'look at later' (when is later anyway????). I don't want to file things until they are complete because I'm worried I'll forget about them.

I have to agree with the 'piles of paper' as a huge issue for me...I have 2 piles just staring at me as I type. I would also say, very simply, managing my time....switching from work to family and family to work...I don't know that either is getting my best right now!

Omigod the papers. I have files, binders, piles, and more piles. i try to empty out the binders once a year and file stuff away so that i can make room for the new papers this year brings! it feels like a never ending battle to keep the ppers from taking over...

My biggest organizational problem is I just don't have enough space...and I don't have a space that is off limits to kids. My computer is on a desk next to my kid's computer, so it is all fair game. In 2009 I hope to figure out how to create "my space" in my house to keep my work papers seperate from 2nd grade love notes. :) I want to be working by my kids and that is why I keep my computer in the same room...so it is going to be a challenge.

Avoiding the multitude of distractions of the internet. So easy to lose focus and get off task while on the computer. Need to have a specific plan and time frame for computer time and stick to it.

Correspondence is by far my biggest challenge. I get so distracted by requests for help that the day is gone and I'm no further than I was at 6am.

Materials seem to get lost a lot - that's frustrating.

Getting organized seems a lot easier than staying organized, but I think it's different for everyone.

Thanks for asking!

E-mail. It's my life but it can be like passing 10 people in the hall, each one telling you something different. At that moment, you take it in and then as quickly as it came, it's gone. I have a tendency to keep all of my e-mails for just that reason. I know there is a better way, it just seems like it takes so much more time to be organized and keep up with it!

I am with you there. It's always great at first but when it gets busy, it seems easier to just let evereything be where it lies instead of trying to do it correctly and take the time to put it all away!

I had to get a storage shed. It was well worth the $40 for a little one. I removed everything I don't absolutely have to have on a daily basis. Another thought might be to get a laptop. Anymore, you can get them so cheap. Then you could be mobile.
