I just received an insult from a well-known author in response to an article I wrote. The "Losing It" article is on www.mommytracked.com and is part of the column I write called "Saving The World One Teen At A Time". I guess the author didn't like what I wrote about a talk she gave, so she called me a mommyblogger who is just desperate to be a writer. I've always thought of myself as a writer and a mommyblogger. How sad that a because a writer has published a book she feels she can belittle what so many of us bloggers do!
Apparently she doesn't take criticism well. Last I checked the act of giving birth does not exclude someone from the profession of writing, nor make their opinion less worthy.
Most of us are fortunate to live in places where the freedom of speech is still allowed. It would be a sad day if we weren't allowed to pass a comment on something of interest to us. Your well-known author won't be well-known for long with that kind of attitude. I'll stick with your writing.
I am so SORRY to hear that!!! how rude and ignorant!! We should all be empowering each other not tearing another down! Keep writing n mommy blogging! I am new to twitter moms and stumbled upon this ! don't worry about haters should be your motivation! :) Nikki
It is sad that so many people think they are so much better than others. What make them think that they know so much more than the rest of us. Even though she has published a book, I am sure that a proof reader found errors in her work. I would love to see her original and how many errors were found and then see what she had to say. Maybe she feels that you may be to much competition???
How many published books does she have compared to your numerous blog posts? A writer usually only conforms to one theme whereas a mommy blogger can write about the world! I agree, she is feeling threatened by your creativity! Oh by the way, I'm Crystal, nice to meet ya, lol!
God bless, Crystal
Yikes! I think that if you put yourself out there as a writer, particularly a published one, you ought to be prepared to read critiques of your work. That's really true of so many professions. A chef in a restaurant doesn't expect everyone to love his food but if he hunts down all his negative reviews and rags on the reviewer I only imagine it makes the chef look bad. Know what I mean?
Any sort of exclusionary attitude for writing sucks. Don't let that sort of petty lashing out get you down!
